I think you're confused /blinded by overwhelming rage due to (how dare they) a commercial site having adverts..
I believe paulrussell works for Haymarket - he's certainly not tagged as such.
Perhaps if everyone who felt strongly about the ad policy contact Lee (ie the person who sets policy, not the poor messengers stuck in the middle) he might think about changing it. Would probably be far more effective than ranting on a thread he'll probably never see.
Give over. Have adverts by all means, I do. But adverts that take my entire browser up? Don't even you, a PH employee, think that is too much?I believe paulrussell works for Haymarket - he's certainly not tagged as such.

A person who is directly involved with the site/forum doesn't bother to check the "website feedback" section? Or as has been mentioned before, been told by an other member of staff that this is an issue? Are you not allowed to talk to each other?

can you tell your IT department that they are really not cutting it with that Beta addition as it is jerky and doesn't work plus it is so irritating I'm going to stop using Pistonheads. Change is not Progress!
I have told them and they have asked, which beta version - do you mean the homepage? And what parts do you find jerky, which bits you don't think work, and why is it irritating?I've used Chrome for a while now with Adblocker and it greatly improves internet experience generally not just PH. I can say, having looked at some of the images posted above, which seem to show 80% of the screen covered in ads, I simply would not use PH if it looked like that for me, shocking contempt shown for users by PH / Haymarket.
Further info on this...
For starters, we are putting better rules in place to stop large ads serving at the same time as each other on pages so you should never see an advert that surrounds the page as well as large ads inside the main copy also.
We are limiting the amount of these large rich media ads served to users, so they are spread across the full user base so you should only see it 1 or 2 times per device in the lifetime of the campaign.
We are removing all large rich media ads from any member pages including login or registration as they distract from the main purpose of those pages.
... and we will constantly review this, so any other hall of shame display ads you want to post - do so below.

Er, I'm not a PH employee either. That's 2 of 2 you've got wrong so far on this thread. I'm guessing you've not actually noticed that all the staff have something like 'PH Tech Boss Bloke' , ' Forum Janitor' or similar next to them. Or were the adverts blocking your view of that too.
Not really the point though is it? So you don't work for them, doesn't change the adverts being stupidly big!RacingPete said:

I've never installed an adblocker as I having the ads funds the site so I it is still there for me to use. However the latest ones, huge, some with sound make it almost impossible for me to browse at work as they are so obvious, so I find myself not using the site so much, which is sad.
I'm off to install an adblocker, which means that I can still use the site but will now not be contributing to the running of it. It seems a bit like PH/ Haymarket are cutting their nose off to spite their face in some ways.

I didnt mind a few Ads and didnt want to use an Adblocker as I know the Ads help finance the site but its become more and more intrusive over the last year. Adblocker works very well and I'm back to enjoying the siteillmonkey said:
