Off topic from thread, but just found PH bookmarks tab on Android doesn't provide my bookmarks.

Frankly you couldn't make this st up. If Pistonheads Brand were really a brand , as in High Street brand, it would have been covered in the next name to pack up and go out of business roughly three volumes back. As it is it's about as useful as Russell Brand.

They always bang on about the Pistonheads "brand" but what do they actually do with the brand? When do you see it marketed or promoted anywhere? I still don't really understand why they bought it.
The userbase and the Classifieds, I would imagine.

Or it could have been that it was acquired by someone in Haymarket who really believed in it and wanted to go places with it, who has since left, and now nobody knows what to do with it but it makes enough money to tick over, so long as nothing is spent on it.

(This is just conjecture and supposition - I have no facts or information to support it)

On Android I don't get:
My Topics
My Replies
My Bookmarks (also takes a long time to load on Windows!)
Local Chat (despite having a valid UK postcode in my profile!)

So only Topics and Replies actually works!

The mobile nav bar is being fixed and reverted back to a single line, which will be released in due course. Once again, apologies for the inconvenience caused by this.

This release is due imminently, so we'll report back once it is live.
Clearly, the fix release has not been as imminent as expected, but I believe the fix is now finally ready for release. It won't be going out tomorrow as it's Friday, so fingers crossed it'll be the start of next week. We shall of course keep you posted as soon as we know more.

Well in the jobs vacant they are looking for a QA engineer, part of the role will be to develop acceptance tests for software development.

Have they got a hill to climb?

Why not? Its not like anything that causes issues in it will actually be fixed is it? Well at least for another 2 months anyway.

Unless you have developers and support staff on call over the weekend, putting out a new release to a live site on a Friday is never a good idea.

Weekend support staff laugh
They could release it before a 6 month shut down and it wouldn’t make any difference to how quickly it’s dealt with!

That was my point. Unless you are able to support a rollout to a live site over the weekend, then releasing on a Friday afternoon is not a good idea.

Although, having said that, releasing first thing on a Friday morning is fine as it gives you the whole day to address any issues.

You roll out releases to live sites all day every day? I bet your customers love you.

My current client have installations on customer sites in several large hotel chains, where even a moment of downtime affects their guests (and generates complaints). Every rollout needs to be planned in advance, with engineers on-site, and developers back at base standing by in case there are any issues. Obviously things always go smoothly (because our team are awesome), but only an idiot would do a Friday afternoon rollout unless the team were in place to react to any issues.

This lot struggle to get a fix done in the same month, so I’m pretty sure they’re not worried about dropping a bugged update on a Friday

All this aside, there's no reason why such a minor change couldn't be rolled out on a Friday morning. We can certainly agree on that. smile

One of my customers always reports a problem that occurred earlier in the week at 15:00 on Friday. I've taken to saying "I'll book that on for you first thing on Monday".

That said I'd probably risk rolling a couple of lines of CSS on a Friday hehe

Yes, I think most of us would. wink

Still, it's good to see that Haymarket have changed their policy of just blatting out untested changes that break stuff, and are obviously taking a professional cautious approach to this vital rollout to ensure that it doesn't cause any problems. I look forward to an utterly tested and quality assured rollout first thing on Monday. whistle

Considering the change being discussed is pretty trivial, I fear there are other 'improvements' being implemented which necessitate a Monday release. yikes

Be prepared chaps, be prepared.

I doubt there will be more improvements, or is that just another way of saying collateral damage? laugh
