Yep, both database servers are back online. Getting closer to the cause now. Bit more research required though

Servers with mysterious pausing performance issues - I try to fob these off to the users at work as 'Special Features' or 'Roulete Performance'

You're absolutely right. I've just remembered that it's the artifial intelligence module that I wrote to determine which of pwig's threads to autodelete on sight
