Does anyone know if you are allowed to post links on here to a donation site.

Situation is a racer who has crashed and needs urgent help so has set up a fund raising page and I would like to post a thread on Pistonheads.

You'll have to ask Nathan if you can post the link.

Posting rule 5 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/rules.htm prohibits posting about charity events or soliciting for donations without PH management permission.

As above, contact Nathan or James to get permission to start a thread.

There's nothing to stop you putting the link in your profile though.

Nathan (eybic) may not be around at the moment, so don't be surprised if you don't get a reply. You could also contact JD PH & ask him.

I might need those blue pills as no one wants to reply.

To answer your question, the answer is no, you are not allowed.

As tough as it may be, it's only fair for everyone.

Fair enough.
Does seem daft though just like the last decision.

So I am ok to put them link on my profile though?

It's not daft at all, considering the volume that we delete. The forums would be just over-run with charity requests.

Has anyone ever suggested having a charity appeal sub-forum?

Might be a decent compromise and stop people (who are passionate about a particular cause) getting bent out of shape.

If there are absolutely loads of them, the worthwhile / laudable will always stay floating at the top so shouldn’t get diluted in the dross.

I suppose the only difficulty would be temptation to continually bump them on the part of the OP.

Just a thought.

To be clear, such a forum would not feature in my favourites. wink

Yes, it has been mooted many times over the years, and the agreement has always been a no. As you say, it's not a forum you'd add to your favourites and you're not alone in that (myself included).

It's hard, really really hard, to have to remove some of those threads as and when they come.

Might be worth discussing the idea of a charity appeal section again?

Saves deleting the deserving ones and if it's tumbleweed does it really matter? smile

FYI, IIRC the last time it came up in discussion was about 3 months ago; so not sure the goalposts would have moved since then.
