I often read queries about posting pictures. I thought, I'd compile some of the procedures to get a picture in a post.

  • 1.) The picture must be stored on a webserver (not on your harddrive)

    To get your own picture on a webserver, use an internet picture service, such as www.fotango.com , or your own webspace which some ISP provide with their service (mostly long term contracts). See your ISP's guide on how to upload them to your webspace.

  • 2.) You need to know the address of your image.

    This is simple: if you see a picture in your internet browser, move the mouse cursor over the picture an press the right mouse button. A menue appears:

    Mozilla and Netscape: #Copy Image Location

    Internet Explorer: #Image Properties

    You'll see the address in that appearing window: select it, and copy it with the right mouse button #Copy

  • 3.) Now the address is stored in your clipboard. Go to your Gassing Station Post Reply in put field, and #RH mouse button #Paste the address.

  • 4.) Now you have to put the [pic] code around the address to identify the address as an image's address and not as a link, which is default for http://www.* strings {see: www}

    It should look exactly like this:

    [pic]http://www.server.co.uk/folder/imagename.jpg[/pic]

done.

It looks like you didn't use the Get a link to this picture feature from fotango?

In another thread Iguana said:
I go to my fotango album choose a pic & click it, then click 'get a link to this picture'. Then left mouse click & drag on the http://www etc etc then it turns blue then right mouse click & chose copy.

I'd like to point out that -in the course of a database redesign probably- the original post of this topic, giving the instructions on how to post a picture, has disappeared.

Any chance of a fix?
