Espada The Recently Remembered Super saloon!
Discussion
I don't know how many are left, none of the early cars S1 with Hex dashes seem to have survived [tried to upload old image of three parked outside the importers in 1968 but was unable]there are a lot of cars being restored and off the road at the moment, the majority of the cars left in the UK are S3,but with values going up we might see a few more back on the road.
I remember back in about 1980, there used to be an elderly gent in Purley, who drove an old metallic brown series 1 Espada with a tow bar. I used to often see him towing an old trailer loaded up with gardening gear. Even back the, the car looked well used and was showing a few parking dents and road grime. Wonder what became of it!

How many are still out there and on the roads?
I guess more than a handful were used to donate their V12 to Miuras and Countachs ...
There were about 218 RHD cars or cars otherwise imported to the UK from time to time. The UK controlled all RHD sales worldwide so it doesn't mean there were that number in the UK. I am trying to upload the complete list in a safe non copyable way and will do so soon.I guess more than a handful were used to donate their V12 to Miuras and Countachs ...
My guess is that there are about 50 left in the UK, both on and off the road. Only about 1270 made of all types.
Hope this helps
Paul
Yes, thats the One ! Surely there must be some importer or Factory records that will give the Chassis number ?
Circa early 1977, i was working in a West End gun shop, when an aquaintance of my by then Late Dad, (a not particularly pleasant character) pulled up in his White S3. I dont remember the reg number, but it looked lovely. I can still see it now in my minds eye. Often wonder what happened to it.
Last year a N reg Met Blue one went past whilst i was at Runny meade. Looked fantastic.

So here are a few snaps of the Espada my friend had. When he first turned up at my home in it (about 1987) it was owned by a friend of his, who he then persuaded to sell it to him. It was a fairly tatty car it has to be said so it went off to Colin Clarke for a full restoration - body and engine. At this time it was repainted the metallic blue.
After he sold I lost track of it until it appeared at the Silverstone events in the late noughties, now resprayed black and living up in the north of England. Still has the same dark blue interior.

I have just found this so sorry about the bump. If I am not mistaken, that is the street in Halstead in Essex, upon which I grew up. The Espada driver took my brother out in it once (my brother was friendly with the lad in that photo...is that you?) I was pretty jealous! I will send the link to remind him...After he sold I lost track of it until it appeared at the Silverstone events in the late noughties, now resprayed black and living up in the north of England. Well I never! Hello Stephen, yes it's me David in the photos and indeed I was good friends with Martin for many years, I recall arranging the drive out in the car.
Funnily enough I have just realised I commented on a post of yours recently in the incongruous supercar photo thread - of course I had no idea it was yuo but terrific set of cars, glad you still have the P1800.
In fact I saw your Mum today as I popped round to see my parents. What a small world.
I see you are not in Essex now but if ever there was the chance to see the two Jags...(sorry if that is a bit forward on the first post...)
Cheers
