Nice short film. Apart from the narrator telling us that the wing cured wayward handling!

Mike is quite handy behind the wheel and as you correctly point out organised the event and knew the circuit. The qv could really only pull away on an open fast circuit. I think the black 911 belonged to his mechanic Paul? It was stripped out and bloody quick if it is the same car I recall? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DE8z0foFSwE
It is great getting out and using any old car. They go so much better with very regular use. If I go a long trip south within a couple of days the car behaves very differently.
What was your v max on the race the runeay
The easiest way to tell if is a fake is to look at the gear lever. In a real CT first is back to the left with a 'clip' protecting reverse which is directly ahead of first. Whilst other cars had 'dog leg' gearboxes none other had that exact arrangement.
I thought it looked fake too due to vents in back of the air scoop and lower rear spoiler which would probably melt on a real car. That would be tough to do on a real car. The engine cover is same as a US file Injection model.
I have had quite a few messages asking if it was my car left out on the bridge. I suspect a bit of attention seeking here. Has worked for the guy. Amazed at press saying is a @00k then 300K car! I wish mine was! lol

Some photos of my QV taken back in October. It isn't my dog! A friends daughter had asked to use the car for a photo assignment for college. It was her parents dog which just happened to be passing at the time!

I have just packed the countach off for a respray as she's had a busy few years, however not sure on the colour code. I have a number on the inside of the front lid, but the bodywork shop doesn't recognise it.
Any guys on here know the code for an 84 LP500s. Looks like the same read as all the others I've seen of that age. More orange than the ferrari Rosso Corsa.
Has it possibly been resprayed in the past and that paint code written in? I think the paint codes were on a label in the rear boot. Possibly best to email Joe Sackey in the US as her has handled more of them than anyone else. Any guys on here know the code for an 84 LP500s. Its a common problem. Paint shops use whatever colour they either get or the customer wants mixed. It could be an old code. If you know the date of the colour change then it may e able to cross ref to that, otherwise its just paint the car and keep trying to get a match unless full respray.
I got the QV mot'd today. Pretty shocked at only having done 1200km since the last one. The least ever.
I will be at the Countach meeting which is about that type of mileage by the time I take a few detours and see friends.
Every time I drive the old banger it is still an event. And the performance still shocks and is addictive!
Just a ramble but hope it enthuses you to get yours out and give it a good drive.

The catch on the engine cover became detached on my car and then sent a screw through a rear tyre! My usual luck of misfortune turning to catastrophe!
Could someone send me a photo of the engine D loop that fits under the engine cover with some dimensions? Length/ width and thickness? I will need to source something like it to keep the engine cover down other that tying it down with string!
Anyone ever had to source a replacement and any ideas?
thanks in advance.

I need a bit of help.
The engine cover clamp, has come off and is lost.
That is the part at the back of the engine cover that fits into the latch on the rear bulkhead to keep the cover closed.
It is effectively two V shaped with a rod which protrudes by about 2.5 cm
Could someone look at their car and give me exact dimensions for the depth length etc of it so I can get a new one built up?
Thanks

The wing was always a factory "extra' bought with your car but fitted by the dealer at your 'request'. The reason was simple. the wing could never get homologated anywhere. Accordingly it was supplied in a box and fitted by the dealer to get around that. Once you bought your cars it was for you to decide what you did with them and not longer a factory responsibility or liability.
Valentino is right. I think he once described the wing as 'just Hollywood' It is for show and has no positive effect on performance or handling. It creates no extra downforce etc. In fact it is estimated to take between 10-15mph off top speed. ( I think it was Valentino or Del Hopkins who told me that? ) Sadly I have never been able to test this as I have only had my car up to 160mph a few times. My feeling is that it is a genuine 180mph car. My car has a wing fitted. the cars vary significantly in performance depending on many things. Back when the cars were built it wasn't uncommon to have cars varying in performance by +5 to5% from the factory settings due to build As these bangers are now 30 years old or so, then it depends on how they have been used and driven. A mate who has driven many dozens Ct's says mine is fast. I do tend to thrash it at every opportunity and red line it every time i drive it. Italian tuning!
Back in the 80's Barry Robinisons cars were tested a lot by Motor Magazine and they sometimes struggled with getting good top speed figures for the cars.
I would like to have a spare bottled to swap over to take the wing off and on. It looks more outrageous with it on. Just my personal view and everyone has different ones. It is certainly good at picnics fro holding things!

Yes they are OEM for that car - S2 LP400S. The are known as 'flag' mirrors for obvious reasons.
When the S3 LP400S started rolling off the production lines they moved at some point to the sleeker Vitaloni baby turbo mirrors, which they continued with the 5000S through to the Anniversary.
Interestingly (or not!) the early production run S1 4 litre cars had Vitaloni Sebring mirrors. Looked great but could imagine they weren't that useful as they were small and had quite a short stem. It looks as though Lamborghini went from one extreme (sebring) to the other (flag) before finding a more appropriate size (baby turbo).
Personally, and ever these things are only subjective, I think the flag mirrors look epic on the low body cars, something about the way they accentuate the low stance.
The later cars had turbo not baby turbo mirrors on them. I bought up a lot of NS ones from Itlay as the base plate that fits onto the door above the mirror base plate cant be found. The kits i bought had them. The door base plates are designed to crack and break hence they are the most often used part. Nice mirros but in all cases as FS says not the best for visability.
Guys
I havent posted on here for ages despite starting this thread.
As has been reported quite a few places the Grand Tour were filming up in the North of Scotland last week with a Fiat X1/9 Lancia Thema Coupe and Alfa GTV V6. I was invited up with a 9 other Italain cars for part of the program and took my QV. As it was parked outside the main area and visible to the public it is no secret that I was interviewd by Jermy Clarkson about the car. It should be screened as part of series 3 in sept/oct.
He and the other two were lovely and we all had some good car chat. Depsite what TV may project they are actually all car guys through and through
The roads up around Ullapool are great with amazing scenery. Well worth a visit.
