Yes - I saw the same photos - the car had a big frontal collision and the gearbox was in the cockpit. The owner's girlfriend was killed in the accident and MP was surprised they decided to rebuild it not right it off.

There are quite a few Countachs that had accidents but soon gets forgotten.... including the black/black/red QV that was pranged by its original owner badly enough that he sold it after it was repaired as it was never quite the same again....
Mine?
Yes

Relatively few - a blu Acapulco Anniversary supplied new to Ingham (maybe dealer Martin Ingham alt he says not) then to Nair and a red Anniversary new to Julian Smith in Jersey and registered J6268.
It was definitely Martin Ingham as that is where I purchased my car from and he told me he had it!!!
Oh.

Yes, that’s why he sold it.
I wasn't aware it was in the public domain. DK were horrified when I told them!!. I made contact with the first owner when I got the car and he told me about the accident. He lost control on a roundabout beneath the M69 and hit some very stubborn concrete. He was convinced the car was not correct (set up wise) from the factory. I'm sure he told me it went back to the factory for the repair? I had to have the front end realigned in my ownership so not sure if that was an issue from the original accident or an issue from another owner.

Yes, I do have a register. I have spent over 35 years tracking down the identity and a photo of every single RHD Countach in the world. There are 238, of which I have a confirmed photo and identity of 224 - 14 to go !!
Then please put me out of my misery.

I recall testing a red QV with a pure white interior at Sytner when they had just the one site in Nottingham and dabbled in a few supercars over and above their BMW franchise. I recall the windscreen had a blue top tint and I'm sure a pretty special Alpine set up.

Does this ring any bells?
Yes. I’m pretty sure they had the red/white QV which is/was E482NUL for sale, and that has a white interior and has/had a big Alpine set up in it.
Thank you. Found pics on the web. That's the one. I'm not going mad. Phew.

I think Harrys car was the motor show car rather than the alpine car
Yes it was on the Portman stand at the 1987 Earls Court motor fair. It is my colour pics that Harry showed in his (fantastic) videos.

We all have regrets but i remember Mike Perry offering me a finance repossession , a very tired black 5000 S , needed a clutch, four tyres

and a repaint ,couldn't drive it as it was towed in, The HP company wanted £28K , but barring in mind at the time a good one would

would have been around £35/£40 and a excellent one for £45K.

While i was humming and harring Portman bought it from the HP company ,probably less than the £28K ,

Mike said they were going to use it as an elephant job when Del had the time.

By the time they had repainted and retrimmed the interior from beige to red ,

Did any mechanical defects including the clutch the prices had quadrupled ,talk about good timing,

They sold the car from George Street for around £150K ,bearing in mind the repairs would have been at inhouse prices

not at what i would have been charged, After saying that i would have got Mike Pullen to sort it out.

Add insult to injury they sold it in my home town, had to put up with seeing it from time to time

even sat outside my house one day in a traffic jam. Ha Ho , My fault should have been quicker.

After feeling like i missed the boat as now prices were out of my reach , but what goes up sometimes

comes down and after trying to be patient and scratching around with Espada's and Jalpa's

the ex Tim Dutton 400 S came along so worth the wait.

After seeing the black 5000 S outside my house i have never seen it again.

Maybe that's been exported like all the others, any one on here know what

happened to it, It was black with beige interior but changed to red ( interior not paint ) by Portman , have no reg or chassis no which

doesn't help. believe it was a 1983/84 car from memory,

Yeah that car is in the Chris Bennett Countach book and in the picture the doors are up on it. It was at a club do on the Portman Lambo/ club pitch. Yep Del restored it into that colour combo with the red interior.

Peter lives in the US now, spoke to him when Mike passed away. Kevan Humphrey also came in around 1991 for a year then went to Maranello Egham

Yes that is right, he is indeed in the USA, that was really sad to hear of Mike’s passing a few months back. I understand that both Kevan Humphries and David Jolliffe are no longer with us either. Very sad really. The fact that we talk about them really shows what an impact they had...what a business to be in hey. Sole U.K. concessionaires and some very interesting characters! Not just the customers.

Sad news indeed, I didn't know about Kevan. He was also a really nice guy too.

Thanks for the info , Last time i saw Peter was on the Lamborghini stand at Earls Court

Motor Show, Would be around early 90's, The white with white interior Diablo was on the stand.

We must have spoke again as he told me he was off to Aston Martin.

When in London i popped in Lots Road a few times then lost contact with Mike when Connaught closed.,

Sad to hear he is no longer with us. Top guy.
