Came to the same conclusion myself when considering against 458 spider / 458 special and used 12C spider

Bl00dy awesome car, unbelievably good and a big step forward on the already impressive 12C

Well done McLaren, spot on with this car !

Putting the Great back into Britain, and we should be proud of it

Got a test drive next Wednesday, very interested to see how it compares to the Huracan.

Enjoy ! Huracan is not even close IMHO, seems to have lost even more of the Italian Lamboness than the late LP Gallardo's even though a big step forward than them dynamically. Nice to look at and be in but I think I would save some cash and go R8 plus if that's what I wanted. Loads of delivery mileage Huracans on the market and suspect some burnt fingers in due course

I wish !

Was sorely tempted by this
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

Been advertised a couple of days and already sold before I made a phone call.
Not surprising at that price, presumably pre reg'd at end of 2014 year to hit target for McLaren and just moving on at no /low margin to clear stock quickly

You haven't bought one....? scratchchin

You've been all over PH and mclarenlife incessantly talking the car up...yet again like your previous 2 cars.

GRB650S has bought one! (Managed to upset a lot of the 12C owners as well)

I could probably argue this on a technicality in the court of law but yes one will be on its way

Please don't ruin this car for everyone else by dropping it into every post and talking about how much is/will be/might be worth.

Congratulations on the purchase though.

That's the only thing so far that makes me a little hesitant, the highly specced cars seem to be shedding an awful lot of money in the early stages.

Options prices are ridiculous on these types of car and bar a few essential ones don't really add any value used car wise. They said the average options upgrade was £23k on 12C so that would make an equivalent typical optioned 650S spider £238 list price. Cars that are £282k list are not going to be worth a lot more IMHO so you are chucking away min £40k straight away with trinkets

Elite paint
Ext and Int carbon fibre packs
Axle Lift
Sports Exhaust
Parking Sensors
Elec memory seats

are the only essential options IMHO ( circa £28k )

A base spec car drives exactly the same and may hold its value better percentage wise but will always be hard to sell so something mid spec is probably the safest bet without getting carried away.

I'm convinced we won't see the same initial hit on 650S that MP4 12C got with all the bad press at the time. This time all the journo's only have good and positive things to say.

12C tempted me out of Ferrari because it was brilliant technologically but wasn't quite there emotionally, but with the 650S spider it was a no brainer and I knew immediately such are the subjective improvements in my view.

I had my heart set on a 458 of some description for about 3 years so its taken some car at more money than a 458 to win me over.

Go drive one yourself and you will believe what I say. I have no axe to grind with Ferrari and undoubtedly will buy more of their products in the future but its not just about adding a 3rd red prancing horse to the stable cus its " a Ferrari", its about the best car out there for me at the time.
As of today that's the 650s spider and I'm not alone in that opinion, others will follow

Sorry to disappoint you Andrew but I still have a foot in more than 1 camp but presumably you won't be frequenting the McLaren section as a non qualifier biggrin:
