"I’ve never had a drive of one which is more than a little annoying, seeing as I actually owned one for a while. I took it in part exchange against my Ferrari 250GTO, which I sold three years ago.
Possibly the most stupid thing I have ever done, closely followed by the second most stupid thing I’ve ever done – which was then selling the F1."

Who did it come from & go to ?

I wondered that as well- he cannot have had it for long as he never drove it.
Sure John Collins had something to do with it, but it is 99% Ferraris on here (quite a few of them once owned by CE)

I don't know (or care!) which F1 Chris Evans owned but the 250 GTO was sold to Jean-Pierre Slavic in Switzerland so if it was a part-exchange that would indicate the F1 was Slavic's.

Is an interesting statement he makes.

"The thing is I never regarded the F1 as a potential keeper, as in my mind it represented an amount of cash that had to be realised.
In short, I panicked. I’ve done this a lot in my life, I really must learn not to."

With the money we invest in these things it's only natural to get the wobbles over keeping hold of something and leaving the cash invested.

I like Evans and he is clearly a proper petrolhead, but seriously, if the F1 was really his favourite car of the last 30 years, why the hell wouldn't you drive it if you actually owned one? Madness.

I'm sure he can afford it but maybe it was to do with a separation payment

He's a bit irrational and done some odd things some times!

He went through that period post Billy Piper when he rented one of the arches at Camden Market and sold off his worldly belongings.

I'd query him as being a genuine petrolhead if he owned an F1 and never actually drove it.

'His' F1 is in this country now, but I have been told by the current keeper it was a very brief ownership

That, and the fact that the only reason he gives for being so upset at selling the F1 and GTO is that they're both now worth double what they were then.

Because it wasn't UK/EU taxes paid, it now is and has been used since but it's now current owner.
