I looked at a Black/Orange 997.1 GT3RS, in fact I put a bid in for it however I thought the price at 137K was way over priced hence the owner declined my bid. A few years ago it was a comfortable 70/80K car. Now though I don't think it is worth the asking price. Still a cracking car though and IMHO a much better and probably more rewarding car than the McLaren.
However on saying that I would take the 991 over all iterations even the 6 GT3 RS which is considered to be the best. This is mainly down to looks though. I am a sucker for a big wing on car.
Don't get me wrong though, the McLaren has something going for it. Its got some fancy doors and it's meant to be a technical tour de force but that doesn't float everyone's boat. I am but a simple man (kind of like RL I guess) that likes a shouty V10 so I'll stick with me Lambo for the meantime. The McLaren may well be a faster better handling car but at the end of the day some of us buy with our hearts rather than heads which is why I think the 650s and the 12c will be just another super car and one that won't be consigned to "Must own one of these" class of cars. As a car that you "pass in the night" it ticks the boxes but as a keeper? Can't see it myself.

Nothing else will do
Absolute values are always going to depend on individual car specs - colour, carbon and other extras and the overall economic climate. My 2006 Aston has just about doubled in value since I bought it in 2012 at which point it had depreciated to about 50% of original list, most of which was in the first few years. There are fewer 650S and they are vastly more capable cars So in 10 years who knows but they could get back to list price. I bought my brilliantly spec'd Spider at a good price when 8 months old and I'm hoping to drive it for a long time yet. The fun of owning and driving is so incomparable as a "yield" compared to what I'd get from conventional investments I don't worry about prices. So my advice is simply buy the best spec you can at as good a price as you can get and ... drive and enjoy, and don't let doom-mongers put you off. Sadly we only live once!!

This car seems to be quite cheap for the mileage and options on a 650 spider, could the VAT qualifying aspect mean that it's an ex-rental car?

Looks like that price is pre VAT so add back your 20% VAT and its circa £175k which seems nearer the mark for spec and mileage. This car seems to be quite cheap for the mileage and options on a 650 spider, could the VAT qualifying aspect mean that it's an ex-rental car?
Either that or its an ex rental that has been thrashed within an inch of its life and the condition reflects it, as its a lot lower in price than equivalent cars

Doesn't it just mean that originally it was a company car where VAT was claimed back and if it is again bought by a company, as opposed to an individual, that you can claim back the VAT again which you wouldn't be able to do if the first buy was an individual? This car seems to be quite cheap for the mileage and options on a 650 spider, could the VAT qualifying aspect mean that it's an ex-rental car?
Of course if was company owned, then you should be able to ask what company it was, but at 7500 miles it doesn not sound like a rental vehicle.

Hello Brad. How are you? Shame the Warren Golf Club thing didn't evolve into an annual event.
Congratulations on the 720 order. Won't you miss taking the roof down?
I like convertibles as you know. I reckon you can work out what I'm driving now given the vehicle you saw me in and my screen name.
Hope you are well.

Anyone got a definitive answer if , the price of this car is INC VAT or is excluding VAT - if inc VAT and it's a "no stories" car then I would say it's very competitively priced. This car seems to be quite cheap for the mileage and options on a 650 spider, could the VAT qualifying aspect mean that it's an ex-rental car?

Give them a ring is the simple answer. Their 675LT spider at £339,999 specifically states INC VAT whereas I suggest this is a clickbait ad to get you on the phone. Thanks
Just out of interest I was offered more than that for my similar spec, mileage 650S spider so add the 20% VAT back on add that's similar to the margin unless they have stolen it off a failing business at auction etc..

The Warren is an annual event now I think, it just skipped the second year. I have been twice but won't be going again after having a stand up row with some tt who thought it was okay to open the car door and get in along with his kid without bothering to ask me. He accused me of being too precious and perhaps he has a point but my interpretation of a car show is just that, somewhere you look at cars, not somewhere you help yourself!
I am always happy to let people and their kids in my cars but asking me first doesn't seem an unreasonable condition.
I have ordered the 720 coupe purely because the convertible isn't going to be available for a couple of years. I plan to spin the coupe for a convertible at the first opportunity, unless somebody else has something more attractive at the time!
I really can't work out what you are now driving or indeed who you are, my apologies. I don't have the greatest memory so I'm presuming we met at the first Warren Classic? And 700bhp doesn't tell me much unless you are in an Aventadore?
I barely remember what my own family look like these days so once again my apologies, I'm going to need more clues!

Yeah was the first Warren Classic. I had the black LP-560 spyder. Had no idea it was still happening. Might go again in that case.
Yeah it's an Aventador Roadster LP-700 hence name.
Oh, and you were bang on about that guy and his kid. I'd have reacted badly to that too. Bloody cheek.
I thought it is 700 hp, which equates to less bhp (691 or so). as I am not from the U.K., I am pretty sure others know better though / I always look at hp / PSYeah it's an Aventador Roadster LP-700 hence name.

Holy moly prices all over the place
some still at very high £170ks and now a few dipped below £160k
(all similar cars, spiders, RHD, 2015/2016, <10k miles etc)

Certainly looks like a few have been priced to move on quickly. Maybe the owners have new cars imminent or others simply don't want to keep the car over the winter and work on the basis that the car will be worth that in 6 months time anyway and at least they have the money in their bank now . 12C spider prices on the other hand look quite strong for an equivalent car 2 years older.
