I guess, in my opinion of course, I'd rather read about the guys who did the bungie jump and what their experiences than the group of guys peering over the edge too scared to make the jump.
Yeh that’s a good point there,I’m so pleased I wasn’t fooled into bungie jumping just because someone I bumped into said it would be fine wink I’ve taken plenty of plunges but at least I made sure there was a saftey rope in place,it’s just a common sense thing I guess idea

Anyway chatting to myself again.

Those who don’t want to loose their shirt and take a considered approach are right not to have done so!

Those who have lost their shirt are also right if it doesn’t worry them, you’re choice you’re money

There is no wrong or right, wrong or right is how the situation fits your perception and situation, horses for courses I guess!

That's the point...….it seems to be worrying you a lot more than it's worrying actual buyers and owners...……

If there were a particular car or brand that I thought were horrendous...…..poor cars....lost loads of money...….the last thing I would do would be to continue to start and resurrect threads about said car or brand...….I just wouldn't care......I wouldn't even read threads in that forum.....it wouldn't hold any interest to me...…...unless I was a troll, that is...…..

Be careful with having an opinion in the McLaren forum, even one backed up with fact will see you shot down in flames....

I did the bungie jump you speak of three times, twice the rope snapped and the third time it was left hanging by a thread only for it to snap on the next owner. McLaren reliability threads come up a LOT so naturally I will comment based upon my previous experiences however, everytime anyone does you'll get Sarnie jumping on them like they're not entitled to an opinion or in an attempt to silence them because in my case apparently;

"I'm passionate about brand degeneration"

The only thing I'm passionate about is not pulling the wool over potential owners eyes and giving a context of balance. I won't be bullied and heckled out of here.

No Sarnie, it's bothering YOU a lot more than it is amyone else hence your constant need to jump on anyone with anything negative to say about the brand, whilst fantastic cars they DO depreciate faster than other brands - FACT.

Just because someone has a curiosity about certain subjects they shouldn't be fearful of posting them through reprisal of you jumping on their case - last time I checked it was an open forum right?. Depreciation and reliability surrounds this brand for obvious reasons so the subject is going to be discussed a lot, like I said in my cool story earlier it isn't going to effect prices either way.

Why don't you take a note out of your own book seeing as certain posters and topics annoy you and just not read the threads or comments.

I think fact based posts from owners on depreciation and reliability are clearly beneficial to the overall Pistonheads readership (in particular potential buyers), while constantly harping on about it - especially if not having ever owned one - might get a bit tedious for people.

Threads should be more focused on driving cars - but that unfortunately has been a general development on the Porsche and Supercars forum over the last few years (first it was investment investment investment and now it is depreciation ….)

Another year or so and it will probably get back to normal as the large majority of cars will depreciate (some a little more and some a little less) thanks to the oversupply of options in general (esp in the 150-250k new bracket) over the last few years and going forward.

all getting a little boring, but I have nothing better to do (sad as it is)

Again, your agenda is deluding you.

If it was bothering me I wouldn't post, would have sold up and would be begging it to Porsche OPC's like Juno.

I certainly haven't "JUMPED ON ANYONE WITH ANYTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY"...…...I'd be here all day doing that...…..I only picked out your fwend Juno because he not only started this thread but delights in resurrecting it with nothing of any substance to say other that "Look how much 600LT's have dropped, I told you so!!"...….

As I said previously, it's all a bit sad...….get out and enjoy the cars you have......rather than sat in front of computer denigrating cars you don't have or don't want to have...….*yawn*

That’s the thing he just don’t get it does he,I’ll spell it out in plain English for him

1. I’ve been very close on several occasions back since the 12c was launched to buying a Mclaren. At one point I had a deposit on one.

2. What actually happened was due to a plethora of self induced issues that Mclaren seem to bring upon their brand I was put off from purchasing! YES they managed to put ME OFF. I had the desire but there was too much uncertainty around ownership cost for me!

3. What would have happened if I had taken plunge. Below are the three examples of the cars, models and prices that I was looking to purchase.

12c Used was £149950 now £80k Loss £69950
570 New was £175000 now £100k Loss £75k
720s New £250000 now £160K Loss £90k

Well in my case I’m pleased that my head ruled my heart as that sort of loss (£235k) on three cars is both eye watering and unacceptable to me. If you are in the awfully richer than you brigade then good luck to you.

4. WHAT is this troll thing you revert to,above are the factual reasons for me not being a Mclaren customer to date “YOU” can’t change the facts as to why I’ve been dissuaded from buying a car that I fancy, these issues exist in the real World. If Troll is your best attempt to describe me then I have to say you have little imagination and intellect. I’ve PROBABLY been on here a good while longer than you and experienced a far wider range of vehicles as a true petrol head than you ever will and it’s a shame Mclaren have not been a part of this to date. As a TROLL do I need to have my posts checked by you in future for prior approval?

5. In the meantime Mclaren should look at Forums like this. They need a strong used car market to support the new car market, one does not exist long term without the other. IMO Mclaren should look at new car pricing, warranty, servicing and service satisfaction as well as facilitating independents for the older cars, this would turn a lot of people onto the brand!

6. Have you TROLLED Alonso as well for all his negatives about the F1 car,I doubt it! Anyway it was good to see Orlando getting into the thick of it at the weekend, hopefully some light at the end of the tunnel.

7. In summary sorry for the long post but at least while you are reading it you’re mind won’t be on the £1500 you’re Mac has just depreciated wink

And you assume I have an agenda because I post on here to share my dire ownership experience, highligtht how much they depreciate whilst at the same time commenting how good I think they are (when they work) and that I will own another?

I mean you could argue the above is a contradiction, but agenda... Can I have some of what your smoking please?

Juno is not my fwiend however, he's done nothing wrong other than highlight the obvious - so what? A check of your post history also proves me correct you do jump on most people like you have with me recently.

One thing you are right on is it is all a bit sad, let's spend every second driving them and never come on here to post ownership views, good or bad smile

to be fair even p1's are available at sub £1m now and the average car was spec'd to just above £1m after options

let's all shake hands and make up.

To sum up:

Mclaren make awesome cars
some depreciate more than others
some are reliable some are not.

Maybe the complainant should start a topic life with a 600LT, I for one would be interested in seeing pictures and hearing about how the car is to live with and how it stirs the emotions etc etc etc

agreed

how about some pics of 600 LTs and some driving impressions from owners to improve this thread, otherwise it might as well be deleted
