It never fails to amaze me when guys like RR, the AV guy or any other boskers come onto the McLaren forum, let everyone know they don't rate McLarens, make a nonsical post then get all bubbly when called out on their said post.

In most cases it is usually followed up with 'your a touchy bunch' etc.

The mind boggles.

What an odd comment. This is an ownership thread, its meant to be updated now and again and 'go on for eternity' or at least until the owners moves on..

Unless I'm missing something.

Sorry, all, rat rod escaped the home this morning and hasn't had his meds. Am sure he's either been telling you what he did in the war, or how all new cars look the same but haven't the soul of classic ones. Anyhow, I hope we've got him back now safe and sound.

Nice of you all to indulge him with polite banter whilst he waffles on about things no-one else is interested in. Still, it might come to all of us..... but probably not as bad.....

Lighten up boys , Very amusing xcentric, at least you got a sense of humour which is more than your fellow McLaren owners seem to have ,I

bet they are a bundle of laughs to go out with. Funny part is i actually quite like the shape and love the Hollywood doors , not so keen on the

noise or lack of it., All that was said that they all look the same which they do just like modern Aston's , Can't see a problem with that,

Unlike you guys i'm sure the Aston forum won't resort to below the belt personal insults and rise above it and show maturity and not throw

their toys out of the pram.

Probably older than most of you but not quite Dads Army yet, At least my cars are mine and not owned by a leasing company as

are the majority of modern super cars these days.

A little update, not much to report really. I haven’t driven the car since early December, well that’s not strictly true every other week I get it out the garage , turn everything on and off, let it warm up drive it a few miles/clean it and back the the garage it goes. I’m fortunate enough that my garage is connected to the house central heating so it’s always nice and warm in there, no issues with condensation/moisture.

I took these this morning ( bearing in mind this is where
I live, I haven’t travelled anywhere and you can see this from my house ! )
Gourock station car park 👍

But people don't generally go on the Aston forum and complain that somebody has updated an ownership thread. Or feel the need to tell everybody they don't like Astons, and why they won't buy one.

You're hardly the first to do that on the McLaren group - there are a handful of people that seem to delight in doing it regularly. I've never had any other marque - or been on any other site - where non-owners find it necessary to post about why they don't own the car.

McLaren seem to attract this - I have no idea why. But the novelty does wear off - and is why many owners stick to the owners group and don't come on here.

If that wasn't a veiled insult, I don't know what is......

Excellent.

Let’s get back to talking about McLarens with pictures of course.

I would love one, enjoy reading this and others on the cars.

Well I haven’t updated this in a while and I’m only a couple of weeks away from 1years ownership, the car continues to be faultless, I renewed the warranty as I mentioned previously for peace of mind more than anything.

I have still been using it as much as possible I actually can’t stop driving it to be honest, that’s the hardest part about ownership , but as the weather is now turning pretty grim on the west coast of Scotland i SORNed it this morning and it will remain tucked up in the garage till the new year.

The last few weeks I have found myself looking at the classifieds for a 991 GT3 and it’s becoming a bigger itch than I thought it would , So I’m tempted to put the mac up for sale......

Cracking car mate been looking at it on the classified section - just the kind of thing I’m after, after years of impeccable Porsche ownership - but just fancy a change and learnt not to listen to the naysayers too much when I bought my 997.1 years ago lol. Let me know if you fancy slumming it in a spyder lol.

It’s been a while since I updated this , I toyed and toyed with the idea of letting the car go but I’m just not ready to part with it.

It has been lay up in the garage over the winter, I took it out once a month on a dry day let it heat up , did a few miles let everything flex and move. Then it would be back on trickle charge for another month.

The weather has been nice the last couple of weeks, so the car is now back in regular use.

I have just clicked over 20k miles now and it’s as brilliant as the day I collected it,

I have had a couple of warranty repairs carried out since my last update,

My passenger door hinge had a hairline crack ( I seen on the forum someone had noticed his was cracked and I inspected mine, there was no noticeable difference in functionality of the door ). Warranty replaced no issue

It went in for its 4 year service including the 20k mile clutch and gearbox fluid service in July 21, they advised I had some front suspension arms bushes splitting, of no great concern. However they approached warranty and I had 4 new front suspension arms fitted ( bushes aren’t available as individual items ) and alignment carried out.

My indicator stalk when turning right would sometimes not hold up on first attempt, minor niggle but I mentioned it anyway, I had a new control column stalk module replaced. Again under warranty.

I was planning on a euro/Alps/south of France trip this summer, but due to covid and some friends not having the required vaccine status it’s been knocked on the head, I am heading out to nurburgring for a few days in June, but I may just be spectating !!

It’s always hard to show the colour in a photograph, it seems to look quite pale, but in person it is vibrant and metallic

Very nice. Glad you're enjoying the car. My 650 is a keeper, too - even if in a growing array of EVs.

That's a track pack car right? Would be a shame not to take it round the ring but much better idea to do a trackday rather than TF. I'm there end of June but doing one day at Spa and one day at the Ring.

It is a track pack car yes, so p1 buckets and a couple of other bits, it’s not me I’m worried about at the ring, its everyone else ,

I have never been, so I will go maybe do some passenger laps with friends, taxi lap etc. see what I think of the place. I’m sure it will be very good regardless

I seem to remember this being advertised just before i was in a position to buy, bet you are glad you held onto it now with the prices going up a bit too. So pleased i held out for a track pack, this was the car that set me on that course.

I have never been hung up on depreciation , how much you could make/ most likely lose, I bought it purely because I wanted one.
Even if I took a massive hit selling it one day I don’t care. I have had an excellent experience in it for the last few years which I will never forget.

I’m glad you got one in the end, what colour did you end up with ?

Ceramic grey, not my first choice but it has really grown on me and seems universally appreciated.

Absolutely, i never bought with too much concern over any decrease, in fact most of my friends all made reference to how mad i was to buy a Mclaren and how much i would loose, but remembering what this was advertised for before and its value today (same as mine) , always nice to be in the black so to speak.
