I really like the 600LT in all Black with the Senna seats......very special car..Its really refreshing to see the 600LT being so modestly shod..225/35 tyres on 19'' rims on the front..At approx £195K used which will be roughly the same price as a new second batch 991.2GT3 RS fully specced and with the WP and watch..
At that money i think the 600LT is much better value.

thanks for the feedback everyone.

Ive had the GT3 for 12 months, 3 big trips including Alps, NC500, Spa and notched up 6,300 miles. The engine and pdk box are a dream for me and make the car a keeper, none of us know what the 992 GT3 will be, maybe turbo and also no guarantee of actually getting one - it could be the last 9,000 rpm screamer!

Always had a longing for a Mac since the first 12c reviews. The Maclaren guys sold it to me at Goodwood last year, so friendly and enthusiastic about the brand and the cars. Nearly went for a 570s but then a LT slot became available, my intention is to enjoy a trip to Spa this month and then the Pure McLaren day again at Spa for some track tuition around the McLaren cars.

Ive only done around 500 miles in the LT and early impressions are very good, firstly it is a supercar, ive never driven anything as fast, makes the GT3 seem like just a fast Porsche. The GT3 has the best engine in terms of occasion and drama but the LT just goes like its been shot out of a cannon. Ill be honest the boy in me wanted the top exit exhaust and the flames and they are amazing but that's worn off already. The Senna seats, doors, carbon tub, driving position all make it a real sense of occasion to drive. Its certainly no Porsche build wise, while the interior is spot on, certain parts of the exterior like door seals and the sills feel a little flimsy - but no problems so far. Maclaren Glasgow have also been a delight to deal with.

Ill be at Spa on the 23rd April with the LT and cant wait to see how it performs on the track compared to the GT3 last year.
Many thanks for that - please post up your Spa impressions when you return - epic circuit for the Mac I would reckon smile

Must say the 600lt on Track must be very rapid and ought to see off the GT3RS 991.2

Friends GT3RS 991.1 is super smooth and very controllable on track but not any quicker on twistier circuits than my Lotus. Drove both back to back at Anglesey and Lotus matched times although in a slightly more drama filled fashion

My Track Pack 570S I imagine would be far faster on big circuits and even quicker on the twistier stuff than the Lotus and still be able to hear Classic Radio

Really your question should have been (in reference to the last 5 years) “what the gell is going on, new cars trading massively above list?”.

It’s just normality reasserting itself overlaid with a dose of economic pessimism*. New cars should depreciate. And the “bit it’s a limited edition” tag is just marketing guff - we all know McLaren, Aston, Ferrari, Porche and Lamborghini are going to be selling a slightly better version of today’s cars in the next few quarters (and as hybrid power develops it will send performance through true roof).

So why on earth would someone pay more than the new cost for a modern Supercar specced by someone else today?

  • edited to add: I think people have woken up to the idea that these cars aren’t really investments and that’s caused many to cancel their orders

Same doesn’t happen with Porsche GTs so I think it’s due to overproduction?

Difficult as McLaren only makes GT's , no SUV's etc

Overproduction is an issue. But you’re starting to see it on Porsche GT cars too. Good luck offloading a GT3 above list...

Don't think I'll have longer chance to catch a low mileage GT3 aligned to the spec I need, mine was just a consideration, can't believe even supposed to be low production Maccas depreciate faster than Porsche GTs.

Very impressive performance from the 600LT against the ultimate 911.

Amazing launch, you'd expect a decent traction advantage with the engine being in the wrong place on the 911.
