I have the corrosion issue again.
My car is a 2016 540C, I had both front wings replaced in around March 2021 due to corrosion.
I had both lower door panels replaced last year that unfortunately McLaren would not contribute to so had the work done at my expense through a McLaren dealer.

Now my Passenger side front wing is again showing corrosion… very frustrating …..

Even more so when McLaren keep showing pictures of these stunning multi fade colours they can now offer.

Might be better if Mclaren concentrate getting a one colour paint job that can last more than 3 years before it corrodes.

Apart from that my car as been nigh on perfect and now with 25,000 miles on.

Would love to upgrade to a 600 LT but the corrosion issue really is off putting.

How can this still be happening ?

Given its the same panel already done, that should be honoured under goodwill/fact its ~1y since getting replaced before? Is that what you are pushing for or have sorted?

No I have given up with main McLaren main dealers, they have to toe the line, the front wing was replaced and repainted in early 2021 so over 2 years ago. Moving forward now the paint codes are available I will leave it for the time being and possible get it sorted next year.
Thinking about trading it in next year, probably go back to Ferrari as having to get McLaren paintwork done every 3 years is off putting.
Guess a 600 LT with carbon wings would lower the parts that will corrode. 😀

One of my painters recently fully resprayed a McLaren he looked at me like I was from planet zogg when I mentioned about possible corrosion. He really didn't understand why it could be a problem. Lots of other cars going back years are aluminum.

I'm a bit worried about my 600 as it's never had this issue at all never had any warranty panels and it's in perfect condition. I've seen it on plenty of others. I keep my car garaged all the time and it never really sees any weather I wonder if that helps?

Zero problems on my 675LT spider, just saying like
×1.

No replacement gearboxes, no corrosion issues, no hinge issues.

In fact, no issues, just servicing.

Don't even have the warranty on it now as it seems a waste of cash.

Yep absolutely faultless over 6 years and 12,000 miles and at least £15k saved in the warranty pot

For those who believe that a particular model of McLaren is flawless, why not go into business selling warranties on them? You could handsomely undercut McLaren and Thorney, corner the market, and still make a killing since you'd never have to pay out a penny.

I'm sorry; are you only allowed to post if you have had issues that required warranty work or repairs?

My previous 650 that I always extended the warranty seemed to be problem free until it went in for an inspection whereby there was always issues discovered and claimed under warranty.

I unfortunately or fortunately have had trouble free McLaren ownership.

That's a lot of miles ( in super car terms ) for a 6 year old car and I wouldnt like to gamble on the longevity of wear and tear items on a mclaren unless it was cheap. £75k doesn't seem cheap enough to me.
Mclaren parts aren't cheap so if 1 or 2 items fail u are overpaying compared to a 20k mile example

Saying I had an X model which had these issues / no issues is a v. useful datapoint to share.

Generalising from one or two cars to suggest that all examples of X model are trouble-free and a far better bet than Y model is, well, probably an example of the case that the plural of anecdote is not data.

Crikey, I didn't realise I stated all x models are trouble free and far better than y model; let me remove it from my post.

Hold on a sec...I didn't.

It's only you that has implied this.

Go for it. Not sure why you have to post your bargain buys continuously?
Buy one and let’s see some pics.

Ah sorry, I see the confusion now.

Because my post immediately followed yours, you read it as a reply to you and thus a criticism of you for over-generalising. That wasn't my intent (I would have quoted your post had I wanted to reply to it specifically). But I can easily see how it read like that in the thread.

Dealers paying for the PPF out of their margin

It’s their toe in the water before they start offering £££ off

Then once their whole foot is in and still no one’s biting they will start moaning to the OEM and stop ordering any new cars.

At that point the OEM puts their hand in their pocket

Sound familiar ?!

600LT PCP anyone

Have you had a quote then ???
Full PPF or partial.

Dealer net cost could be as little as £1500

When you’ve got several £200k units of stock incurring interest by the day at very high rates, you’ll happily offer a few £k off either which way to it gone, it’s a slippery slope
