Hi Bosh, hope you and yours are well mate.Yeah listen I don't mean to bash the group I'm probably being out of order, clearly it provides a really good service and keeps the TP123 wkers at bay.
I have been in there. I logged in on my partners account and mooched about for an hour, it was the only time I've ever been on Facebook and to be honest it wasn't for me, it seems like the sort of thing you have to be constantly checking to keep up with and frankly I couldn't be arsed.
I like the way a forum allows you to go to subjects and threads you are interested in, you can target stuff. Facebook seems to be something that just rolls on regardless and you can't compartmentalise things. Perhaps I was doing it wrong.
So yeah, I'm a luddite!
Anyway, selling the 720S, didn't like being shut in! Got a 570 Spider incoming. You still got the 650S?

Nice one Brad - I like the 570spider. Yes I’m still in the 650 and just about to embark on 2000+ mile club Euro trip on Saturday given her a spruce up for the trip. I must admit though your 720 looks amazing but understand the spider side of things
I hope to see you over on the dark side one day soon - I’ll give you an fb lesson when we next catch up
Dec, did you view this car or did owners put you off completely ?
I've decided to have another viewing as soon as I can to give it a good look over and drive on different roads.
A few questions which I need answering if I decide to buy...
I assume it's a simple matter to transfer the tracker into my name but how much is the annual subscription and is lifetime subscription available ?
Any recommendations for insurance ? I'm waiting for a couple of companies to get back to me.
What are the typical service costs, are there any big services at particular intervals ?
Are there any expensive consumables ? Brakes for instance I'm told can be expensive - not sure what's on this car - how long do they last/how much ?
Anything else I should be aware of when it comes to running costs ?
Will it fit in my garage ? I'd not realised how wide this thing is and how narrow my garage is until last night
I've seen the various calculations which seem to suggest 112inches /2844mm but that's a definite no for me So, what's the minimum width which'll allow me to get in/out the car and is it safe to rest the door on a padded wall or is that a seriously bad idea ?
My garage door opening is 2310mm and the garage is only 210mm wider each side when inside
I've a second garage but access isn't as good as the above and even with nose lift I think it'll catch on the pavement on entry/exit unless I use some sort of ramp every time I move the car in/out.
This is 2310mm at the opening, when inside it's 70mm wider on the r/h side and 440mm wider on the left. Car would have to be reversed in which might prove interesting as visibility doesn't seem great
If there are any owners in East Mids who fancy parking their car in my garage let me know Only joking.
Any help on the above gratefully received, I'm getting quite excited at the prospect of McLaren ownership

For the 12C you need 20 inches more than the car width to get in and out - for a garage door the 570 is wider only because of the mirror stalks not folding - your door sounds huge ! In fact you've already got about 10 inches more than the car width so the internal 18 inches should be enough - but as you say there's nothing like a physical test
570GT might have steel brakes might have carbon - costs will depend accordingly - insurance suggestions & servicing costs almost certainly discussed in previous threads

My garage door opening is 2310 - my 570S measures 2210mm wing mirror to wing mirror, its a double garage so no issue with drivers door opening providing I reverse inside of course !!I've decided to have another viewing as soon as I can to give it a good look over and drive on different roads.

Firstly sod tracker. I'm with Admiral and there is no requirement. Its a PITA to have it on a car and remember the fob each time/deal with calls. I pay £1,000 p.a. for 10k p.a with business use for my 570GT as one part of a multi-car policy with Admiral (+Merc CLS, Ford Fester totals £1,700).I've decided to have another viewing as soon as I can to give it a good look over and drive on different roads.

Brakes, well mine still look like brand new after 10k miles. Light car, minimal wear unless you do a lot of trackdays. Most GTs have steel brakes and they are plenty powerful, I've never triggered the ABS on mine yet. I'm nearly through a set of rear tyres now, so 10k a set. Fronts still look close to new (light car). Obviously tracking the car will change longevity.
2017 cars have depreciated nicely now (unfortunately for us owners) so I recommend picking one with the spec you like. FWIW mine might be for sale at the end of this year due to moving abroad (can't take RHD car where I may be going unfortunately or I would). IMHO these cars need a nice bright colour, lots of nice oranges out there (but they are a bit common). I went for a custom P1 colour which cost £6k extra (gulp, which I won't get back).
McLarens are bl00dy awesome! At the Pirelli Prestige event this past weekend they attracted much more positive interest than the other supecrars there with the exception maybe of the odd piece of exotica. McLarens won prizes too, beating lots of exotica, including the 'people's vote'.
You only live once, or was it twice? Does this mean I would buy another? YES!
Edited to add: I'm just South of Leicester, not far away. If you want a closer look at one without a dealer making you feel guilty for taking their time.

I'm with NFU for insurance along with quite a few other McLaren owners (according to the FB Group) and their prices are very competitive. Not had to claim thankfully so no experience of how good they are when needed.Any recommendations for insurance ? I'm waiting for a couple of companies to get back to me.

I bought an Aston Vantage from Alexanders in the past and found them to be pretty decent. After-sales wasn't great so make sure you can call on the McLaren warranty rather than theirs. Also that GT has steel brakes rather than the carbon so replacement parts will be only 'expensive' rather than 'oh my God... how much!'.
Nice looking car

Yes, near Leicester. Might be around one day next week. PM me offline.TIA.
Thanks to everyone for your replies. Looks like it should fit in the garage, just need a ramp of some sort.
Targarama, thanks for the offer of having a close look at yours, very kind of you. Dealers are going to make money so I've no problem taking up lots of their time
Before I started looking I would've agreed with you about colour. Always loved the oranges and thought that was what I wanted but then I saw storm grey and liked it a lot.
Hopefully everything will check out OK when I have a closer look at the car, is it possible to find out if any warranty work has been done on a car ?
Cheers

mickv, thanks for the clarification on the tracker.
Mr Moley, the Pacific Blue looks great in photos, although I prefer the lower mileage one with light interior and bright wheels.
One owner, low miles and Mclaren dealer think I’d be silly not to go and view. Price close to Alexanders too though maybe less room for a deal. I thought I knew what I wanted and then people go and post links and then I’m not so sure!

The car at a Hatfield is v nice. I had a look at it recently, I was in the market for a 650 but thought I’d do a GT justice and look at one. It’s a lovely car, colour and spec combo work really well on it, doesn’t hit you in the face like brighter colours but more eye catching than the blacks and greys. Hatfield were great to deal with too, couldn’t recommend them any more highly.
