Alfa 4C? Bigger game changer when it comes to carbon.

In terms of carbon.... is it such a game changer when some manufacturers are doing so well with metal (Porsche)? Is it like the 3G+ vs. 4G debate.
i've only driven a couple of cf chassis cars, and they've both had a certain, for want of a better word, numbness to them

is this because cf chassis don't readily transmit certain frequencies of noise and vibration ???
Have you ever driven an F50?

I think early cars suffered because of some of the reviews and software issues.

McLaren responded with the free upgrade programme which really has to be seen as a positive. Listening and responding to their customers at considerable expense is not something I have experienced with my 2 Ferraris.

The 2013 upgrades have significantly enhanced the MP4 12C so it may well be that they are a bargain now having taken the major hit on residuals

Is a 458 a better car, maybe, is it a £10k better car possibly not, is it worth £20k more definitely not IMHO and I'm a Ferrari fan through and through ( albeit one now tempted by adding a McLaren to the stable )
This is right on the money as far as I can see (except the Ferrari service bit, which I've had good experiences of, at least recently).

Interesting, I thought that was because of the suspension but the 12c is the only carbon tub car I have driven. Is an enzo the same ?

Another '4C' is proof that carbon can be used to build a volume car...the Alfa of course....and another low volume sports car will be announced soon at a price point below even the Alfa that has a carbon cell. Can't say too much about it, but its green credentials are second to none.

In terms of carbon mass production, the BMW i3 is far more significant than either the Mclaren (1200 pa) or Alfa (3500 pa) which are both low volume.

F50 very unusual as road car, in that that engine is NOT mounted in subframe (like CGT) but is actually bolted directly to tub so not necessarily representative of most CF chassis cars. (It's worth noting that it goes a step further AND the engine block/bearbox casing is a stressed member itself so back end of car is mounted to engine!). Amazing layout for a roadcar.

Is it me or are there an awful lot of MP4 12C 's for sale at the moment.

Whats going on ? Are people jumping ship in preparation for the facelift ?

There are cars with next to no miles, 1 year old and £60kor more below list. They seem good value especially compared to 458 which I can see falling shortly

Fantastic value - it wont be long before the wider supercar buyer wakes up to these...plus the coupes were only produced and sold in 2011 and 2012. Most 2013 cars are spyders and they are £180k+

30% depreciation on a mass-produced £200k car is average

Mass produced ? How do numbers of 12 C compare to 458 ? I naaively thought there were less Mc Larens than Ferraris ?

There are far less 12Cs than 458s, but that's not limited by supply!

Is there actually any real info on a facelift or is that just wishful thinking or self created rumour on the part of some here?

Whilst the 12c is undoubtedly vastly talented, I think that blend of speed and capability on track coupled with a miraculous ride and level of comfort.

But the only thing I am surprised about is the weight, the car has had so much attention to it, yet still is 1301kg dry, so around 1400kg kerb, which whilst is 80-85kg lighter than say a Gallardo 550-2 or a 458, I expected it to be much lighter given the CF tech involved.

But then it isn't a sports car for weekends its something thats abilities and design allows it to be used every day.

No idea on detail but there was a transporter load of them at Millbrook yesterday undergoing significant testing.

No facelift in the near term. Expect a new variant - the '12 S' or 458 Speciale killer.

Less demand for these cars now evidenced by the first one appearing at a British Car Auction sale this Wednesday.

2012 62 plate coupe 6k miles black good spec recently serviced. Looks like its had some use though.

£120k anyone?
