If it is sold on and still isn't used, it will remain a unique piece of automotive history. If it is used it will become 'just' another F1!
Either way it's still an F1.

As a car enthusiast, I really hope the chap that bought this car new also bought a matching one that he drove the nuts off.

For me, that would excuse buying a 2nd one as a unwrapped invest tool.

Anyone know the details of the owner, does he even have a drivers licence ;-)

Extraordinary - Im sure Maclaren would maybe know of a few more cars like this, that have done silly low miles, as presume they will have had them pass through their hands for servicing/pre-delivery at one point or another.

Wonder what time intervals the current Japanese owner of this yellow one has been changing/renewing the cars tyres, rubbers, oil, brake fluids, coolants etc.... even though its never been used.

What services would have been suggested/carried out. Sitting for so long cant be good.

More details please

You have to hand it to Tom... He must have a massive set of b******s to buy into something that would be worth more than most counties.

Yellow would not be my first choice, but it does not really matter as I would never be able to afford it, but it is lovely to see one available..

That would all depend on the price paid for it. A strong price might have taken some cohones, but a so-so price would have been a lay-up.
These dealers that occasionally have very expensive cars on sale often do not pay for the cars out of their own pockets even when the car has been bought outright. They will get one or more wealthy backers to put up most or all of the money and then split the profits accordingly. I would not know if that happened in this case, but it is common with big-ticket motors.

Possibly.... But he has been around long enough now, to have the means to do this?

Those of you who are saying it is sad that it is not being used are missing the point.
It is highly likely that some of the interested buyers already have an F1 albeit in used condition.
All they are now doing is buying an unused one to treasure.

An absolute disgrace that this thing has never been driven.

Wonder if the OBC cries "FFS will somebody please drive me" when connected to Woking.

I believe there is one on display at the MTC that has similarly low miles and is owned by a customer.

With respect, I think you will find that the vast majority of F1 road cars that have been acquired in the last decade were bought by people who did not already have one.

Quite remarkable that the F1 is so revered yet they only managed to sell about 60 road cars.

McLaren must've lost a fortune on the project at least until the prices went nuts.

If I had the money I'd buy it and keep it exactly as it is, not just for financial reasons, but I have a fascination with BNIB/Timewarp/Barnfind items like this.

Amazing car in amazing condition, let's hope it's kept that way. cool

Someone was talking about storage conditions and if it had been drained of anything. Interesting warning stickers on the rear windows. I wonder if thats a McLaren notice or something else.

If I had the money, and already had another one to drive, I'd buy it and put it in an actual barn under a tarp. I would then try to forget that I owned it so that I could rediscover it at a later date as the ultimate barn find.

Zooming in to read it I would imagine they are standard delivery stickers, I can make out

"Fuel tank drained and car battery ....
And secured for transport.
Warning Travel wheelnuts fitted
Warning Bungs fitted to Exhaust"
