No MOT is a huge red flag for me on absolutely any car. The only reason not to test it is that the seller is not confident it will pass and doesn't want to risk selling a car with failures. If they are not confident it will pass then any buyer has to assume work needs to be done and budget for that. It's only done 1100 miles since it passed with no advisories, so unlikely to just be tyres but who knows.

They took it to a dealer in Nov of 2023, when it was due a service, but chose not to have it done or have it MOT'd. I would definitely need to know from the seller why that was.

The issue here is fairly simple imo.

The car isn’t quite right,

It’s on CC because of that as Traders use It to shift Stock with issues. Same as the old days when you bought at BCA Auctions, although you did get more protection than on CC

Any potential purchaser needs to view the car and get a a full explanation from the seller before considering bidding

No point winning the auction and then viewing the car, as you will then will be in region of £7,200 down.

If you subsequently reject the car you won’t get your £7,200 back. No consumer protection with CC !!!

I would be asking why it seems to have spend huge amounts of time in the workshop rather than out being driven, 50 days in each year.

181 days in the workshop between Dec 2019 and July 2023.

Doesn't sound like an encouraging history thus far.

OP, if you find a car in the Midlands outside of the main dealer network there's a senior ex Mclaren techie at RJB Sports Cars just north of Birmingham who knows his stuff - he's very honest & has seen it/got the T-shirt on Mclarens thumbup

McLarens are a lot rarer outside the UK, and values are 50-100% higher correspondingly. So a LHD car which can potentially be sold to a European country would naturally be priced at those market prices, less roughly the cost of import taxes etc to get it there.

I guess I'd find it more surprising to see an LHD car offered for the UK going rate of ~£130k or whatever, because that would represent a massive opportunity for someone to buy and export.

Seems strange for it to turn up over here in first place, must be worth considering buying one with the wheel on the wrong side for export..

Its not been serviced at McLaren(an outfit in plymouth).

It didn't sell on CC, so most likely that the buyer didn't pay their fees(its one good thing about CC when you can ID the seller), buyer must be a trader to buy it serviced and list it? The car is down in Cornwall not Exeter.

Could CC go after the buyer or seller in this case to try to get their commission?
