Unlike your good self then who always positively contributes to every discussion.

With your "apparent" wealth of knowledge it would be nice in once in a while you actually posted something worth reading and not constant trolling.

Maybe I just am expecting too much from you

Agreed. On both sides of these petty point scoring jousts people need to grow up.

It's about time you got yourself a decent camera, I don't know how but you manage to make a McLaren look dull and boring in every shot. Get yourself a DSLR and learn some basic processing in Lightroom, then repost. It'll save you posting the same photo on every thread too.
I don't profess to be a photographer but maybe these are more to your liking :

Nah, not siting stationary in that puddle, maybe when it drives off.

Based on that pic, I can well believe Rambo is 50kg lighter than your average Mclaren owner...

Be 65kg lighter of she had breast reduction surgery - I'm sure Mso will do a nice pair of carbon clamshells to retain your looks.

As some know, I ordered a 540 in 2015 but pulled out due to a property purchase. I hope to back in a position to get a McLaren in the next 18-24 months so am always keen to read owners experiences and views.

The issue with Rambos posts (not all of them because I agree with some smile) is the continual need to go on about the 'carbon tub' when it's irrelevant to the discussion and adds nothing. It comes across as someone who's so insecure that they need to justify to everyone the superiority over other options such as Ferrari.

If someone asked the question "why are McLaren's great open top cars"? then I'd expect him to eulogise all day long about the tub and it would be relevant. But so much of the time, for me and I guess for others, it just gets me thinking "oh no, here we go again" and I've just stopped reading many threads because of it when up to that point it was interesting.

So if Rambo can just TRY to keep on topic without the repetition and be more sparing with the sermons I think the threads would be better for it. He's got a lot to offer so it's a shame if it gets ignored due to a style of posting.

Just my 2 pence and all in my very humble opinion of course.

People are naturally passionate (obsessive) about things that they are passionate about.

Sports cars are an emotive purchase that people often try to justify one brand against another by non-emotive reasoning. With McLaren it's the carbon tub (like RL), with Ferrari its the investment potential, with Porsche it's the engineering and reliability, with Aston Martin its the prestige. All utter nonsense reasons to justify buying something beautifully impractical and for no other reason that automotive lust IMHO.

I don't need a McLaren, but I really want one...

Good lad. I must admit I am liking the 12C more and more, maybe as it has a full length central console which I do like. Just got an invite to the P14 launch (as the dealer is calling it), hopefully can make it as I am very keen to see it in the flesh.

The P14 is out of my league on cost grounds as I don't want any finance, I drove the 570s at Millbrook last year and it was everything I had hoped. I'm looking at either 570s or 540c once the Mexico has been collected by it's new owner and I've tidied up the V8 Vantage for trade-in or private sale. Something new for the summer.

Exactly. You can't put it up or down ala Porsche etc you can only have Aero on or off and why would you drive with Aero off.
With all due respect, the vast majority of the Mclarens driving around with the aero mode 'on' is solely for posing. If you're not getting to significant speeds where one might start to think you need more rear grip you wouldn't have any real use for aero on. And actually it probably does tend to make the car understeer more as a direct consequence of more rear grip as well. Outside of the track i doubt i have mine turned on even 10% of the time especially as it blocks my rear view mirror....
The main point I was making was that the spoiler isn't switched on or off individually but linked to the aero; you have extrapolated that into putting Aero on for the majority is "solely" for posing. I'm not sure I would agree as why not just switch aero on as you drive off, rather than have to think about it in the move? I hear what you say about track driving and driving at the edge of the envelope but I noticed the spoiler raise when creating a hump in the road and of course the famous braking spoiler raise for extra rear end stability?

You may well be right that it's superfluous in most situations but if I have it, and it might help, I might as well switch it on is where I'm at ......... and thus be labeled a poser smile

Better.

But you're going to need to change your number plate now, you can clearly read it in the reflection of the puddle and we all know how anal you are about 'the safety of your family'.

And please tell me that's your wife and not something creepy like your daughter or sister. :-)
