This guy seemed very genuine, he said his was 2nd customer car, 1st in uk and its orange.
He believed 1st customer car in the world was yellow!
He is indeed a very nice guy! The first car was indeed yellow, but it is also a UK one. (I write this knowing both owners)He believed 1st customer car in the world was yellow!

I thought Leno got the first?
Small chance Jay Leno might end up with chassis 001, but certainly he has not been privileged to have the first one delivered. The cars for US customers won't start arriving until early next year. As for chassis numbers, the owners were able to choose whichever they preferred in the run of 375 (assuming someone else hadn't already taken it) and the cars are not being built in order by that as one might typically assume. A better assumption for Jay's P1 might be chassis 015, to match his McLaren F1.

That's just put on for show. The white car is the original Paris show car, formerly Volcano Orange, after a repaint. There are several clues to this if you study it closely, but it is most certainly not a production car and definitely not the real Chassis 001.>8^)

As always, saying so much, without saying anything at all.
If you were a 918 purchaser, you would know that your purchase price is locked in Euros....Along with the price quoted above for the P1 is inclusive of taxes.......getting a bit board now.....Edited by APOLO1 on Tuesday 29th October 07:57

If you are holding out for the 6.47.....you will be waiting a long time....it is rouse stated by member......
I am not holding out for any particular time. I sleep just fine at night whether the P1 has a published Ring time or not. While there is info to be gained from testing there, this crusade for record times is more of a marketing exercise, offering more entertainment value than real knowledge to spectators. You're the one who seems overly concerned with the current situation. Either buy the car or don't - life will go on.

I should have known better than to doubt you
Thanks, but I'm no more infallible than the next guy really. I do try very hard to be correct and only share known information. When something isn't known and I'm speculating, I try to make that clear as well. Best efforts aren't always enough though. There is some historical precedence for fitting a 'Chassis 001' plate to the styling model for McLaren as the F1's initial design concept back in 1992 also had a similar plate intended to bluff viewers.
That one is a little more obvious as they ended up putting the ignition key in the production F1 chassis plates.

It is chassis #046. That was the first P1 to be 'unofficially' delivered since the owner had to return it to the factory for a software update after a short drive.
Morning Mark,Had a long chat with owner no 2 yesterday. The small points are now sorted. He says car is epic....Look forward to drive soon...He rates it above the 918, and he has driven both....interesting.....
