I saw this car being driven, in the rain, on the M25 this morning, in convoy with a Lamborghini, I'd never actually seen one on the road before. Seen an f1 in the Park Lane show room all those years ago. I reckon he was checking out my Golf Diesel...

Followed it for some miles before I had to turn off for the airport. What a car!
TT9 and Beefmeister out and about again, not scared by the rain!
well done chaps!
It was quite an exciting drive down in all the rain, the Aventador tramlines like a bh and doesn't like a road full of standing water! But having an F1 in your mirrors (I had satnav, he didn't) meant the day was an absolute dream for me.

After the usual 4:15 alarm call, i strangely wasn't at all tired after taking this:

What's special about George Harrison's one?

Not that they aren't all special, of course.
George's car was given special attention during construction and has visual elements connected to his Hindu faith in several places on the car. I am told, but have not seen an example, that the sacred Aum symbol which "embodies the essence of the entire universe" has been ghosted into the paint on the car under the clearcoat. That paint by the way was "Dark Purple Pearl" - reportedly chosen to match a helmet that belonged to his young son Dhani.

Also, handwritten in silver ink in places all over the bare carbon monocoque that most will never see are Hindu sayings, quotes and random song lyrics. I know that some of these were written by Gordon's own hand (maybe all of them) as I was told by a factory employee who was part of the Genesis assembly team back in the day that during the build of that car Gordon would often come down from his office upstairs to add something new that he'd just heard or thought of to the car.

Here's one visual example of a quote that was written. The image appeared in a book that was published not too long ago about George Harrison - included were some other photos of the F1. (Thanks to hurstg01 for the scan.) This appears to be from a section inside of one door, sans the door panel.

It reads "On some windy corner, 'round a wide-angled curve" which is from a poem written by American singer Bob Dylan called " Last Thoughts On Woody Guthrie"

I’m sure I read somewhere that following George Harrison’s death Gordon Murray would periodically go round to his house and start up the F1 and check it over make sure it was running ok because he remained friendly with the family.......
When I die I doubt Andreas Preuninger will come round and check my RS battery ain’t flat.

I've been to his house a few times and heard roughly the same thing

Yes & if you head to GG & the Flemke thread the owner took another PH'r for a ride in the F1 this morning.

Beefmeister has posted some great photo's of the F1 as well.

Looks simply sublime casually parked up with the doors open. Have to admit to being ever so slightly (quite a lot actually) jealous........
Indeed he did, and I'm still grinning now biggrin

Apols for those who have seen the pics already, but here they are again, thought it fitting for this thread:

And the other thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I know these photos were posted over 6 years ago. But there is just something otherworldly about seeing photos of an F1 on a normal middle class housing estate. It somehow makes the car look even more mythical. I just cannot imagine the prospect of getting up in the morning and seeing an F1 casually parked close to my house, it doesn’t even seem possible.

Walking out of my house with a Skoda Yeti on the drive to a (then) £10m car, the poster car of my dreams sitting outside. TT9 the owner is an absolute gent and to be driven in an F1 is something I’ll never forget. Same as convoying with it to Wilton House driving an Aventador - seeing and hearing it on the move was incredible.

That was a bittersweet drive actually, I should’ve been focussed on the Lambo I was lucky enough to be driving, but my focus was entirely on the F1 rofl

Thankyou to whoever bumped this post though, been lovely to remember again.
