Thats a tidy £20k+ profit, I guess its a good time to be a dealer as they can buy at very low prices as not many private buyers around to compete with, and therefore make some nice margins.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2023112342...

My old car. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2023112342...
I sold it to a collector of WRC cars up in Scotland who bought it cash without even viewing it. He drove it a few times before then deciding to move it on.

I’m in the market for one of these at the moment too. Just looking into the numbers:
I didn’t see the original CC/private sale price but assuming that it was around £120k and it’s now up for £140k
Unless he’s sat on a tonne of cash the buying dealer’s cost of capital from a business loan must be pretty high, but let’s go with 5% as that’s the interest forgone in the bank. So at £120k x 5% / 12 that’s £500 pcm off his profit for every 4 or so weeks he holds the car.
Then he’s got all the other usual things to worry about such as premises rental, utilities, staff costs (inc his own time), insurance, marketing/advertising, and then the likelihood of getting chipped a few k on the asking price, post sales warranty, etc, etc
I’m no car dealer but unless you shift 100’s of cars a week to spread these overheads over then I bet they all add up and dent your profit.
So really is he making £20k profit?
I suspect it’s an awful lot less. And that’s based on a relatively quickly sale. If it takes a few months over winter, in a declining market, then this could actually be quite a risky purchase… despite the initial perception of a large margin to be made.

I wouldnt say the market is declining, its pretty static, prices are back to last years pre Xmas average.

The market for these has definitely held up better than others 720s for example and far better than most 911s which are currently cratering. However they are around £10k less in retail prices compared to last winter and probably £20k less in trade-in values
Not from what i remember, documented in the sports series thread, £130k and above, which is where they are now. 720 was bound to drop a bit with the 750s coming out, i think the market is reflecting that, but the pickings are slim for a nice one at under £140k, mostly white, lux spec or relatively leggy mileage at that price point.
911's were always way way over priced and over hyped anyway (supply and demand), personally it always had to bite them in the backside at some point.
