I'm just going off the Pirelli website which lists both a P Zero, and 'New' P Zero and shows the different tread pattern:-

P Zero

'New' P Zero

They also list a 'New' P Zero Corsa. I must admit though that the tread pattern on the 'new' tyre looks the same as my old ones... now quite confused laugh
the 'new' Pzero is the one on the 720/570.

Just had confirmation from McLaren that the only tyres that they endorse for UK Market are currently :

Pirelli P Zero Corsas for more track focussed driving and standard P Zero for a compromise

However would appear that Michelin Cup 2 are fully ok particularly for a more track focus

Seems for the money that the Cup 2’s are favourite
Ignore Mclaren, they will just pimp out their own narrative. Mich Pilot 4's all the way - so far above the P Zeros I struggle to write them both in the same sentence.

Sorry to be pedantic but there is a massive difference between 4S and 4’s they are completely different tyres

Good to get differing opinions of tyres .

My opinion of Cup2’s as no Cup2 R’s for Lotus has been very positive and had no problems in the wet but my Mclaren is a different beast.

Edging towards the Cup 2’s though as aiming for a few track days and assuming they wear no worse than Corsas are much better value

So although my fronts have 3/4 tread left you can’t mix tyres so thought I would go all round Cup 2’s as they seem good value

Further research has now thrown up Michelin don’t make Cup 2’s in the recommended size for the fronts. B@@@@@@.

The main difference is PS4 only comes in 18" dia max , PS4S in 19 and above so a moot point on any McLaren.

It is true that Ford and BMW have specified super sports on recent high performance models in preference to PS4(S) , citing the supersport has more outright grip, if not a better all round performance.

I can only comment from Cayman GT4 experience ... which in handling terms is probably closer to a McLaren than you may think.

Cup2's are great on a warm dry day, and acceptable on a warm wet day. But they are not very good on a cold wet day ... unless you enjoy sliding the car to get some heat into them.

PS4S are almost as good as the Cup2 in terms of maximum grip, but they are much better in cool and wet weather.

Because they have softer side walls that are also a little more feelsome ... and in that sense easier to drive in the wet because you can feel the flexing of the tyre wall and the slip / breakaway point.

For a balls-out track car on track, Cup2's.

For a road car or less than balls-out track car, I would go PS4S ... I did on my Audi RS3

Anyone with real world experience with PS4S on a 650s? Any rubbing?

Thoughts on Cup2 tyres vs new Corsas, if you only care about dry performance in warm weather?

As per earlier report you can not get Cup2’s in Front size for 570s only for the larger 650s wheels which can fit 235 rather than the 225’s
