I'll have to join you again on one of the North East drives. I've had my 's' for coming up to 2 years now and at the moment I can't see me changing it for anything else either old or new. It's been a fabulous car to own.
It's very different to the Astons, still great, still very usable, still very quick, but different. Mines the 's' and I personally prefer the open engine deck and aero buttresses at the rear to the GT although I think I'm in the minority.
As noted above, the GT is slightly softer in feel although that doesn't mean the 's' is GT3 hard, in 'normal' the suspension is very compliant even on the rougher North East back roads, and 'sport' is a hoot on the Hartside Road where 'track' is a little too jiggly.
There is a dealer in Leeds now and they have a decent stock despite the pop-up nature of their current Unit, nice guys and I'm sure they would let you have a decent test drive in both the GT and S so you can see if the differences are noticeable. There are some 's' spec GT's too which just adds to the complication, incorporating the firmer suspension and steering off the 's' in a GT body. Also, originally the GT had the same steel disk brakes as the 540c, although again I think more are coming through with the carbon ceramic brakes which come as standard on the 's'. The ceramic brakes are fabulous, but again you don't see any complaints about the power of the steel rotors in fact they are supposed to have slightly better 'feel' under use.
PM me if you want any more details
