So, today I took the plunge, and purchased a new 570S Spider from McLaren Ascot. It's gonna be a long Christmas break as it won't be ready to collect until early January!

I know how you feel, I'd imagine you'll be counting down the hours, that car looks really nice.

I enquired about a new Spider from my local dealer about 6 weeks ago only to be told there are none available some I'm a bit surprised to read on here and other places of new spiders being bought unless they were pre ordered cars.

In the end I had to go with a 600LT Spider, damn what a let down, should be here Xmas Eve.
I know it's too late for you now, but McAscot have another two unregistered 570S Spiders. There's an Abyss Black one in the showroom, and an Ice Silver one in storage.

Lovely!

It shall seem like an eternity until you collect...
It's going to be three weeks, which is probably going to feel like three months!

Hi Flashardos - congratulations, where you in there around Friday lunchtime looking at the 570 spiders and the 600LTS - if so I too was in there dropping off my car and noticed a salesman walking you around each - that Senna in the background also looked awesome!
Yes, I was there on Friday with my wife. We were originally going to buy the black one, but the white one turned up from their storage place and we thought it looked better (was also slightly more expensive)! It's being booked in to have some PPF applied, but unfortunately Christmas and New Year holidays mean it's not going to be ready for handover until probably 11th January.

So, I finally picked my new car up yesterday from McLaren Ascot. We've covered around 200 miles so far, and nothing has broken yet! Even the DAB radio has behaved itself. This is the first supercar that I have owned, and it's going to take a little while to get fully confident in it. Having said that, I have found that left foot braking seems to be easier than using my right foot with this pedal layout! I will post some pictures once I have resized them to suit the forum limits.

Is it me, or has there been a sharp rise in Macca's being purchased over the past few months? The McLaren Owners Club UK has today just welcomed its 400th member. 15 members have joined since the begininng of December 2019. Things are looking positive for the brand.
I think it might be a combination of decent discounts and good PCP deals. I plan to join the Owner's Club once my V5 comes through.

Are you doing running in?
Another 425 miles to go, according to the manual! I've had it mainly in auto mode, with the occasional blast, to see what it can do!

For running in, I drove mine in Manual (well I do anyway) to avoid low rev and change gears often which helps.
Yes, have to admit the revs were getting a bit low at times. Will give manual mode a try next.
