Having just looked through PistonHeads used cars section there are now in region of only 18 for sale excluding one particular dealer who still shows long sold vehicles . AT also have a couple more ! But in Middle of 2020 it was over 40.

It does though seem all the nicer spec 2018/19 better colour optioned cars have gone. There are also folks requesting nice examples through the Supercar clubs and presumably cars are being sold this way without being advertised.

So are we now seeing interest in the 720s rising with so few decent examples available and arguably it is the greatest Supercar from an overall performance point of view with low spec cars down in the £130k’s

Prices do though appear to have stabilised even though some folks still want to talk values down for their own ends I guess.

Prices may not rise for the 720s but it looks likely they won’t fall much so are they the best value Supercar, Probably!!

According to figures there are 617 UK registered 720’s with 1 or 2 LM’s. ( many are sorned though )

Some well documented issues with a few cars and in addition some folks have had minor gremlins. Not something that is desirable but overplayed by some people for their own ends I guess.

But When the 720s is compared to Porsche GT3/GT3RS which is a so called limited edition the 720s really is a rare beast and even rarer than a Huracan, Aventador or 488.

With the Artura being launched shortly although not a replacement for the 720s maybe we will see used prices actually begin to rise to a level which represents the overall Supercar market and not the ridiculously low prices for 720’s as well as the other Mclaren models.

Seems a bargain to me !

Great cars, but make sure it's covered by warranty or deep pockets. Couldn't wait to see the back of mine. 15 months ownership, mclaren had it for at least half that.

Incredible cars, but I personally wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. They're 'cheap' for a reason.
Just a bad experience but not the norm by any means.

I had problems with my Porsche but the Porsche dealer just doubled my issues. Won’t touch Porsche at the moment but times and manufacturers change !!

Why is it whenever someone is defending their position that the car is crap, they always know "friends who also had issues" How many people own 720s's? What, did you like have three of you all with the same supercar and you all had bad issues?!

Look, you got a bad one, no doubt it was really frustrating and like you, it would put me off, it sucks, but it happens with every brand. But better to be honest with your experience and help others avoid the issue with facts. And we believe you had issues, no need to claim you knew others with the same problem, no need to try to put other people off the cars altogether, you're not doing anyone any favours. I did lots of research before buying one, talked to loads of owners and ex-owners. For every one person with a bad experience, I found many many more with positive ones. So the chances of 3 of you, all with the same exclusive supercar, all with a load of issues, I just don't buy it. And that sort of exaggeration doesn't help anyone, doesn't help prospective owners, doesn't help the scene, doesn't help the brand get better.
I can’t disagree

There are many Supercar Owners who have had issues with all marques. I don’t think McLaren are unique.

The main difference is McLarens perform like a Supercar while most of the rest do not. The Supercar sector is so far behind that of McLaren Sports and Supercars they need a new sector !!

The most unfortunate issue though is a handful of very vocal folks who voiced their opinions, as they have right to do, but it did not accurately depict the views of the huge majority of owners. This then became like Chinese Whispers.

In any event, there always someone’s mate or bloke down the pub who has had a bad experience of pretty much everything.

Late 2018 iirc, although mine is on a 68 and doesn't have it so best check as it goes down to the build date and not registered date.

White swoosh badged cars will be from 18 plate cars onwards but as said it is on build date not actual registration.

In any event contrary to some postings there is little to no difference in the build quality. The so called software update is a bit mythical as gremlins on cars 2-3 years will have been resolved if owned by a longer term owner.

In fact other than the early launch models 17 and 67 plate there is nothing of concern. Many Earlier models did appear To have more issues.

I would be more concerned about picking up a high spec, well maintained, colour you want and one with Mac warranty than whether it had Red or White Swooshes.

I don’t think you will be finding a good spec 720s Coupe for under £140k now

With the lowest advertised cars now at
almost £140k perhaps the 720s values have turned a corner.

I really don’t see values dropping much for high spec Coupe’s this summer and Spiders look set to remain high with a limited number of cars available and new builds virtually ceased.

Jardine Motors / McL London is offering on their website 3x 720S on PCP contracts with effectively 78k discount (180k cash price vs 257k RRP) - that’s public price before any negotiation... - probably just a few ones but still doesn’t seem to indicate that there is big demand for 720s...
Not much call for Luxury spec so reflected in the price

I'm fairly sure there's no performance difference between the Luxury and Performance spec either?
No but the Performance spec is far more sought after used by a fair margin

Very few folks buy the Lux spec, a bit too pipe and slippers
