My Ioniq5 P45 thread - from the start.
Discussion
Well the start is that I ordered a Toureg R PHEV after selling the Bentayga for top $.
Ordered June told August, then told March 22 !! No chance.
We’re no stranger to battery power I had a GS450H years ago which I liked, we’ve had a Leaf & Zoe on cheap leases and a hybrid ionic which I didn’t like due to the CVT noisy engine.
I was aware of the new Kia and Hyundai EV range about to land and they were of passing interest only because I’ve never viewed an EV as a “proper car” more white goods to do stuff.
The Ioniq 5 P45 piqued my interest because of the solar roof, matt paint and a genuine limited run, on the off chance I called my local dealer to be told green, black, gold or white are available for September delivery - WHAT ! - I thought sold out etc etc well apparently some dealers orders a few and sold out meant from Hyundai only.
No haggling allowed, crap apr but happy to get it ordered and super chuffed when I delved further into the details of the car. Some genius (sliding console) some nuts (magnetic board) but it’s INTERESTING.
One reason I wanted a 22 model Toureg is the remote control parking, the I5 has this but straight lines only - it’s designed to help fatties get in when parked door to door / just what I need.
£500 deposit, loads of paperwork emailed, invitation to a virtual launch in August and that’s where we are today.
Just to close on the fact gravity gold paint is a matt finish - I’ll need to read up on that.

Pretty sure the Ioniq doesn't have a CVT, well ours doesn't!Ordered June told August, then told March 22 !! No chance.

Your correct her Qashqai does, I get mixed up with her cars - however her ioniq hybrid had a rough petrol engine that was always running. Our new fully electric one is much much better. We will be a 2 Hyundai family something I’d never thought would happen.
Called the dealer today to see if they wanted my PX to be told my salesman left !! I had no idea.
I spoke to the sales manager who said my order and 2 others were on his desk but the “system” wouldn’t let him allocate them despite reporting to IT etc, he said the cars are appearing available but allocated to his dealership so it’s a small chance this might fall through despite my deposit.
Yesterday I chased up my return deposit on the Treg R to realise they hadn’t done anything on 3 days as they asked for my bank details for the refund - I paid by CC, I see trouble ahead.
This isn’t the best of new car buying experiences.

Looks like the 'magic' of Korean EVs amazing consumption is the same as in combustion cars, power output.
At 70mph, in summer the AWD Ionqi 5 has just under 200 miles range with consumption figures almost identical to any other similar sized EVs.

Somewhat normal due to the exponential rates of drag at speed. His 70mph in Norway is going to only be useful on his own comparisons - it really will depend on a lot of the weather conditions and gradients. At 70mph, in summer the AWD Ionqi 5 has just under 200 miles range with consumption figures almost identical to any other similar sized EVs.

Always been the case in ICE that the faster you go, the lower the mpg.

The current Kona and eNiro don't show the same drop off in range as speed increases. I certainly hoped the Ionqi would be similar and the Koreans had some secret sauce to EV efficiency at speed. But as it turns out sadly no, a higher powered Ionqi is just as inefficient as our Model X, eTron, iPace at speed .
I was accepted for the original P45 order a few months ago.
Went to Birmingham when they had one on display to check it out. It was supposed to be a car for my better half who currently has a e-golf so thought it might be a god upgrade.
I got really annoyed with the uplifting in price from £45k to £48 (ok, not manufacturers fault…) but still £48k for a Hyundai and seeing the car in the flesh we cancelled and ordered the id3 for £27k. Sorry it’s just not worth it in our opinion. Hopefully you think it’s worth it. For that kind of cash I’d prefer a Tesla.
Mine was a gold one too and part of our cancellation was due to the Matt gold we had on order, did not like the Matt finish. Ok, it’s got mega options but simply not 27k to 48k worth…
The reviews of the car are very good and complementary but the reviewers don’t have to pay for it.
DS, hope you like it, I’m looking forward to your views. Maybe you got my cancellation. Lol.

It’ll be fine I’m only keeping it until VW sort out the Toureg R delivery.
Price wise it’s about £50 ish a month between them as the ioniq has high residual forcast.
Funnily enough, I too had a Touareg on order. I really really like them as I’ve had 3 of them in the past. Last minute changes for various reasons and ended up with the BMW X5 45e. Fabulous…Price wise it’s about £50 ish a month between them as the ioniq has high residual forcast.
Touareg R….superb.

Reason for Toureg is I like the air chassis and engine but I can’t afford the Bentayga version of the Phev, the Porsche was very basic, the Audi ok but the £8k discount off the Touareg clinched it. Touareg R….superb.

Is that not a weight thing? A lot of the more attractive/fancy EVs seem to be quite heavy, which is a bit of a rubbish part of the overall problem. But as it turns out sadly no, a higher powered Ionqi is just as inefficient as our Model X, eTron, iPace at speed .
Reviewers have moaned about 'cheap plastic' in the ID.3 on areas you wouldn't really tap and knock on anyway, but at least I guess they had the right idea
