So are these monthly payment including the battery rental at £80/month?

Having said the Leaf wouldn't fit our life style in another tread, me and the wife were talking this AM about how best to save up for a Tesla, and realised my BMW 335i is pretty a display item on the drive at the moment (done about 2000 miles in 6 months). Yes I love it for been able to go from 0-60mph in sub 5 seconds, but I also love the thought of a Tesla more.

The BMW is currently averaging 22 mpg, so over 10K fuel costs alone is £2000+, add in £245 road tax, the ability to break any minute without warning (£2.5K worth of mechanical repairs in my ownership), and high insurance costs, I work out before deprecation over the next two years the BMW would cost around £4000 to keep on the road....

The cost of these Leaf deals are working out similar, adding in deprecation on the BMW and I'll probably save easily £3K+ over the next 2 years by switching to Leaf...It would also release a useful chunk of money I have in the BWM, which can go straight into the mortgage and that'll reduce the mortgage by about £100/month (it's nearly paid off)....Which is the half the rental cost of the Leaf!!

Cannot believe I'm actually considering swapping the BMW for a Leaf...But the lure of the Tesla is too strong, and anything that gets me into one quicker cannot be bad thing.

These deals are for the car and battery so the costs you are seeing is what is paid. Similar to yourself in I worked out that our Mitsubishi Airtrek does about 20-25 mpg and with extra expense of car tax, mot, insurance it will cost less for the leaf for 2 years than to run the Airtrek. I was also surprised at how nice the leaf was to drive but then I still have the MR2 turbo for a fun car.

Been in today to pay balance of deposit and surprisingly my Leaf has indeed just been built and will be with me 2/4 they have 2 more available to sell this month. Couldn't get a spoiler added but I do have mats and I am chuffed to get a 32Amp home charger for free.

Could you let me know which dealer you used?

I'm going to book a Test drive with Nissan.

Still cannot belive I'm going to swap a near 400bhp twinturbo car for a Leaf, but the after more calcuations the Leaf is going to work out costing me £50-70/month once the BMW is sold once I put that money into the mortagage....and in 48 months time, hopefully swap it for Tesla smile

Just about to push the button on a Leaf

£77 per month (6000 miles pa)
£1800 deposit
2 year PCP
£150 booking fee

3.3kw metallic blue with solar spoiler.

QQ - which cables should I expect with the car? I'm told I get both the domestic 13 amp charger (to use before the home charger is fitted), and the public charging cable. Is this other people's experience?

You get a 3 pin useless thing (better than nowt) and a free home installation for a chargepoint that can have a tethered cable but unless they are being very generous you don't get a street charger (most chargers have them but the leaf is type 1 )

Hmmm.... this is what they've told me in an email as part of the deal: "With domestic 3pin and charge point charger."

Maybe they are being generous, I'm hoping they aren't telling me duff info before I push the button! The OLEV grant for a free home charger ends at the end of March, and has to be fitted my mid-April, so I'm being ultra-cautious to ensure this all correct.

You will get a home charger as exactly what you have quoted above - get a tethered cable one and you don't need to buy a cable

Sorry if I'm being thick, but presumably if I get a home charger with tethered cable, I only have the Nissan-provided 3 pin 13a domestic charger to use for public charging points (as you'll need a cable to connect to a public charging point). Do I not need a 'type 1 to type 2' for non-fast charge public points, or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

You don't get a cable for public charging they want circa £200 for that, you get a home charger with an option of tethered cable or socket - if you get socket and a type 2 to type 1 lead yourself you can charge anywhere.

Thanks very much for the clarity, that's what I understood the case to be. They've said they'll include the public charging cable, seems like the final sweetener to push the button on this deal.

Right test drive booked for tomrrow.

Local dealer did some sums, cheapest Visia quotes coming out at £166/month for 24 months, with ZERO deposit.

As long as I order the car, and register it by end of March deal is good to go. They will also 'Hold' the car for me at the dealership till mid April, giving me time to sell my current car (Don't want the hassell of having x2 insurance policies).

Going get my number plate transfered off my old car and than sell it, but doesnt effect Leaf purchase at all given it's zero pound deposit smile

So if all goes well tomrrow, will be chopping in my BWM for a Leaf!!!

Would you not be better getting the higher spec Tekna? Yes there would be a deposit but should be a lot cheaper a month going by some of deals earlier?

I'd say go for the Acenta. I didn't like the leather seats on the Tekna (great sound system though) and the Visia doesn't have regen braking.

A note about regen braking, it certainly does put a bit of power back into the car, but it also means you have to brake a LOT less. It's surprising how much that adds to the driving pleasure.

The Visia doesn't have the more efficient heater either.

I'll see on the test drive tomorrow about the level of toys on the various models...

The main driver for getting the Leaf is according to my man maths, once I put equity from my current car into the mortgage, the NET running costs of the Leaf will be £50/months MAX, compared to around £300-500 (depending on what brakes next) the BMW is costing me. It's not that I cannot afford the BMW, it's simple I want to be in a Tesla of some kind ASAP....The leaf been so cheap to buy/run is the ideal way for me to 'downsize' the car for the next 48hrs, and than get a quicker EV....So essentially the lowest cost I can get on the Leaf the better smile

Also I think my local dealer has filled their quota of Leaf sales, so don't think they will do a better deal on the better spec model

I saw this on HUKD today, £129 down then £129/month for the Visia+ - apparently some (many?) dealers are matching this:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nissan-leaf-visia-...

That kind of pricing hits the spot for me, even just as a novelty-factor second car for the commute (approx 16 miles each way will be easy of course).

Hi there,

OK, returned my Leaf last night after a 7 day test drive.

Deal offered was as follows :-

Brand new Tekna 6.6KW in Black (battery purchased not leased)

OTR price = £32265.00

Grant - £5000.00

Deposit Allowance (if taken on a PCP) - £6448.00 (this was no cash or PX in from me)

Balance to pay = £20817.00

36 payments of £399.80

Optional Future Value = £13226.00

Mileage limitation 20k per annum.

Dealers advice was to take car on PCP for a couple of months, then settle off the balance in full (as we wanted to simply buy it cash)

No idea whether this is a good deal or not given the yearly mileage but simple maths tell me its crap given some of the deals posted on here.

Regards

Tim

New leaf in 2 years so get cheapest deal now on pcp and get new one or not when out. I was told there were no 6.6 to be had for March if so that's why you can't get a deal. Call Steve at nissan birkenhead see what he can do as s comparison

I'll also suggest that you call Richard Davies @ Chorley Nissan Burnley to see what he can offer you.
