Does anyone know how to get octopus to install a smart meter? I registered 3 or 4 months ago and have heard nothing back yet. I've just ordered an ev and should get it pretty soon. I can charge at work for free but I only go in 2 days a week and would prefer not to pay the higher rate if I need to top up at home.
Ring 'em up, heard their customer service is quite good on the phone.
Their customer service sent me a link to switch over to the Intelligent tariff and I had to register for a smart meter then told me if already registered. Will have to ring back I guess

If it's on the octopus app charge schedule, it's cheap rate.

If you had plugged in at 10% today it would probably have given you 12+ hours cheap rate in order to hit your 100% requirement.
Maybe I've got it wrong, but my Ohme Pro charger doesn't know the charge state of the car. So I can't set it to "100%" but only to the amount I want added. At the moment I've got it set to +50% by 7am on the basis that if I put +100% by 7am it might start charging at peak time. Maybe I should set it to +100% and then it will give me max cheap rate until it's full regardless of the battery charge state. I've once had a "we're going to miss your target" message from the app.

So tonight, Octopus timings don’t match Audi app at all. However, the Audi app timer uses a ‘time to leave by’, so doesn’t actually seem to support specific times at which to charge. I also noticed that when I plugged in and the car started charging immediately that the car was not on ‘timer mode’. I’ve now enabled this, but the car seems to be waiting 130hrs before it’s going to charge….

So with IO and their caried charging times, do you get cheap leccy for your whole house during the Off Peak charging hours (7.5p)?

Would be handy to get the tuble dryer on during a morning extended time session around say 8-9am, if IO decides that's a time for charing.

Octopus (at least with the Cupra app which may or may not be a rebranded front end to a VAG wide app) don't setup the charge timings in the app, they effectively switch charging on and off manually to match the Octopus schedule.

Interesting. Every day the Audi app has different timers set (now a 03:05 departure on Monday) and I don’t adjust them so it can only be Octopus doing something with them? I think I saw a “timers received” message the very first time I opened the Audi app after switching tariff.

Zappi app shows charging last night that was broadly in line with the Octopus schedule.

Plugged in tonight, car started charging immediately. Into Audi app, it turns out timer mode has been turned off. Noticed that there doesn’t seem to be any way in the Audi app to stop the charge other than to set a timer.

I’ve asked Octopus to explain exactly how integration with the Audi is meant to work.

Same as BMW app, IO stops and starts the charge by remote setting random charge delay times in the app. Took me a while to figure out what was going on and I kept setting the app back to 'charge immediately' setting thinking that's what IO needed... But no, just leave it alone and IO will take care of it.

You’re spot on. Looks like the Audi app works in the exact same way. Charging history according to the myenergi app matches the Octopus schedule perfectly now, so looks like it’s all settled down.

Help.

So my ohme and IO haven't worked since i signed up. However the last week or so, around this time, If the car is plugged in, I get this notification.

Is this when I will get cheap leccy?

If I click on the notification it takes me to the home screen of Ohme app and I can't see the notification again.

Anyone else have the ohme app who can advise.

Thanks?

I believe that is when you will get cheap leccy, but my iPhone) app doesn't have notifications like that. Do you have an Android phone? This is how I see my charging schedule.

Thanks Yeah android and I can see that ohme screen but it doesn't tell me in advance when it will be cheap, just via the notification.....that disappears when I click on it.

Also, weirdly, I don't get that notification everyday when the car is plugged in, probably 3/5 times. Does that suggest those days I dint get the alert there are no dynamic periods; just 2330-0530?

That would be my guess as well. I also don't know if you get cheap leccy during that whole period, or just if the car is charging and isn't full. If the former that would be brilliant as at the moment it seems cheap leccy for most of the weekend.

2018 i3S Rex via Zappi Charger on Intelligent Octopus

I moved to IO a couple of months ago and it works brilliantly - the only frustrations are that our Smart Meter doesn't show the true cost of electricity each day as it can't deal with a different overnight rate and a 24hr (ish) delay on the Octopus App in showing hourly use.

I defaulted to 100% charge by 5am and the BMW App confirms that its doing that.

The Zappi is neat enough and the MyEnergi App works well, but now the combination of IO and BMW App mean I dont look at the MyEnergi App at all.

At a rough guess, the i3S is costing 2p-2.5p per mile in electricity based on 7.5p/kWh

The Octopus App highlighted my daughter bringing a fan-heater home from Uni and using it to heat her bedroom during the day (my bad, she now knows how to turn the house heating on...) and that the dehumidifier in our garage is 320W (which I hadn't spotted), so no longer runs 24/7... Dishwasher and Washing Machine both have start delays, which we are using.

IO is my new hobby

If you want better financial tracking, use the Hugo app, gets a hold of your Smart meter data and you can input the IO rates and it calculates a daily cost, etc. I had to flip day and night rates as it couldn’t handle two separate cheap rate periods in the same day ( 23:30-00:00 and 00:00-05:30 ).

Thank you - I will take a look.

IO is slightly more complicated by it occasionally charging the car at the lower rate outside of the 2330-0530 window, but thats not too common so far.
