It does, I like the Polestar, it was just all the 'they will show Tesla how it's done' bullst we've been putting up with for months on here.

'The competition is coming'.

Well... in the UK last month (https://www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data/car-registrations/):

Tesla sales: 5823

Polestar sales: 218

So let's just clear this up, the Polestar, the first 'real' competition to Tesla, didn't do a whole lot did it.
They've only been delivering them for a few weeks you twerp!

Shall we mention about how tesla have been charging for features that don't even exist or work for years now?

I don’t think anyone expected the P2 to be a volume model did they? Not even polestar themselves.

It’s a first statement from the new brand.

We know they have sold only 2200 worldwide so the fact that only 200 in the UK should be no surprise.

What, like a car that doesn't stop dead while you are driving it?
Nice way to de-escalate and bring it back on topic of you.

Whataboutisms don't help us. Both should be better. The Polestar isn't excused to be unreliable because Tesla is. If it isn't better built, then what is it's USP?

Polestar only intended to build 50,000 units of the P2 per year at the most. It'll never outsell Tesla. That's not the point. Polestar is a low volume premium manufacturer that acts as a technology forerunner for Volvo, Lynk&Co, and Geely.

Group sales for Geely are what you need to keep an eye on.

Based on the £60k asking price of the XC40 Recharge I'd suggest the P2 is a essentially a loss leader? Be very interested to see what price the P3 comes to market with.

The price of the XC40 Recharge is crazy. Either they think there's enough people who will pay well over the odds for a baby SUV, or they're going to knock them out on lease deals.

As I understand it, Polestar are going to build the Precept now, possibly ahead of the Polestar 3.

I hope they sort these issues out quickly. A few clients are looking to purchase on the basis that they didn't want the Tesla foibles biggrin

The range is going to be an issue for some as well.

We are getting lots of leasing enquires on Polestar as the premium EV, nearly all company car drivers coming out of PHEV saloons. Our Tesla enquiries are very low compared to Leaf, Zoe and now VW ID enquires as the Tesla is just to expensive now.

I think the best comment we had from a company that ordered two Polestars was they won’t have to be Tesla drivers, enough said really.

Hopefully they will drop is a demo to play around with for a few days.

One would hope that as grown ups their decision making process was based on rather more than that.

It does, doesn't it. A lot of the list is basic stuff you would do for any car, checking for defects and making sure all the equipment works. Some of it is because the software is beta which is very Tesla.

It's a real shame that Tesla has made beta software acceptable. It's not, everything should work and telling people they have to wait a year for basic features like a charging timer is ridiculous.

Have a Model 3 coming on Friday out the pool whilst I wait for my Polestar to arrive. I will most likely have it 2-3 months so it will be useful to make the comparison between them properly.

Just a base Model 3 in white, I have already driven a Longe Range and was not a big fan due to the styling and interior as I think both are lacking a bit for the price point. The performance itself was fine it was quick like most electric cars but the rest of the package let it down for me.

It will be interesting to see if my view changes with more time behind the wheel, for me personally the P2 range was more than enough and the 0.3 second difference in the 0-60 time was more than worth that trade off for the far superior styling and interior (all personal opinion of course)

Also a Model 3 LR was for some reason another £150 a month over the P2 which seemed strange when they list at the same price pretty much...
