t must be a mid hybrid or similar with that small a battery. I wouldn't bother getting a dedicated point for that. BUT, if you wanted to go full EV in the future, prices will only go up, so it might be worth considering.
This. EV chargers aren't going to get cheaper, just this month new electrical regs came in which nudged up prices for example. You don't need one for a hybrid but it will be better with one and all chargers work with any full EV too.

Some installers might not be comfortable with ev ultra as it isnt armoured, so additional electrical protection needs to be fitted to mitigate the danger of the cable being damaged.

It looks pretty armoured in the photos online.

No ideas for a name

You are both right... data from Doncaster Cables says;

"Available in both CarbonTek® PVC Tuff-Sheathed or CarbonTek® SWA variants."

I don't but it is hard to go wrong with any EV charger tbh. That one does look a bit cheap to my eyes but maybe it is. Fine for a workplace where looks are less important.

This charger looks great too if being untethered doesn't matter to you but looks do.

Like that - about time someone gave Andersen a run for their money.

Looks like they 'were' Andersen. Maybe sold it off and have started again in competition?
Looks nice, but I'd prefer to see tethered, at least as an option.

Interesting. Amazed they didn't have a non compete if they built and sold Andersen.

It does look nice. Tethered will probably come later.

We're starting a big renovation soon (bungalow conversion, will include full re-wire). Want facility to charge two EVs, and utilise power from PV panels.

I've narrowed it down to Myenergi Zappi after 10min research online. Looks like we will need two units.

At this stage I want to make sure I get the right supply in the the right place.

Any other suggestions?

The Home 7 Plus (for solar) above looks good - new to me though so can't give personal recommendation.

The Zappi is great if you have solar panels and also has the ability to load balance between multiple Zappi's and set a maximum total grid import load which can help prevent you blowing your main house fuse. Two chargers running at 32A does not leave a lot of headroom for other high power devices (electric shower, cooker, heat pump .... ) so IMO this feature is a must if you have more than one charger.

Why do you want 2 chargers? Do you both drive cars that will use more than half of their capacity daily? In practice one car will do minimal miles and so they can share the charger.

FWIW I would not recommend the Indra Smart Pro unless you have a tariff that can give you cheap charging. The charger itself is not great - the Zappi is much better if you have solar.

I've had yet another incident where my Andersen unit failed to charge overnight, with no notification that it had gone into fault - and I think I've had enough of it; at least every few months we have the same issue, which requires the unit to be power cycled to restore function. Andersen support are completely dismissive when contacted.

To save too much trawling back through this thread, from those who install these for a living (Frimley111R I know for certain), what are the recommended best chargers at the moment? I've tried form over function with the Andersen, and would now prefer something more reliable!

I am just glad to be reading this now. Premium product with a premium price should work faultlessly.

So what's the consensus on a handful of the best chargers?
I'm getting my new EV soon.

Current short list is:
Ohme Home Pro (I don't see the point of a screen though)
EO Mini Pro 3 (out in 2 weeks)

Cables seem to cost £200+ and I'd want to keep total cost under £1000 excluding grant and including fitting. Ideally I'd want tethered and no earth rod, but don't mind untethered if the overall price works and it locks. You can schedule charging via the car so don't really care about smart charging. Something small and discrete would be great. MUST have a reliable app.

Suggestions?
