Got you however I’m driving down to Northampton tomorrow and back so needed it back to 85%.

Ps : what do you mean by bonus cheap hours? It’s cheap between 11:30pm and 5:00am no?

Just in the process of switching...

But my understanding is that if you leave the car plugged in, and leave the scheduling fully to Octopus, they can also charge the car outside of these hours at the cheaper rate if they get some cheap supply.

I also believe you get the cheaper rate for other uses during that window too, but could be wrong on that.

Yeah okay I have read that…which leads to the next question.

The Smart meter I have doesn’t ‘see’ the 7.5p deal only normal octopus daily charge. Is there an app or something that can work out what your actual bill is running out?

Again, not fully sure.... But I think so.

I also think their service is only compatible with certain smart meters, cars and chargers. If you're on the tariff, presumably they checked all that?

My service cuts over Friday. Then I need to get the smart meter installed and switch onto IntelligentO. Should then be good to go.

Yes, yes and yes. There are slots outside 23.30 - 05.30, but only if the car needs it. During ALL slots, cheaps rate applies to everything you do. I once plugged the car in at 5pm, it set it to charge at 9pm onwards and everything until 05.30am was cheap rate.

I don't bother with the BMW app or looking at the charging slots on the car (i4). Just plug in and let IO/Ohme work it all out.

The Facebook group someone linked to earlier (twice) is great for answering questions. None of the admins use the API integrations.

OctoAid on iOS is pretty decent, even the free offering. 'Proper' breakdowns daily, and also tells you what your real overall cost (peak and offpeak average) is... Just turn the 'daily jokes' thing biggrin

That’s for the help everyone. Charging worked as planned last night via IO and I’m now on Hugo to get ‘real’ numbers. Martin Lewis can stick his energy tips up his arse - you just need the Pistonheads community.

Hugo's okay, but try Octo-Aid - active and helpful support group on Facebook too.

Oddly it's useful to have both. Hugo takes it's feed from your smart meter (actually from the central data pool it sends all it's data too), whereas Octo-Aid takes it's feed from Octopus only.

As such you can see if Octopus has missed any half hours lots, and if the meter actually worked and sent something. Ie. you can see where the problem lies.

With Octo-Aid you need to confirm any smart charge slots outside of the normal 23:30-05:30, but if you remember when they were you can add them in retrospectively if you forgot.

From what I can see Hugo doesn't show the correct daily charge if you have any cheaper Intelligent slots outside the 23:30 to 05:30 period, unless there is a setting I haven't found.

You just setup a manual tariff with your actual costs and away you go (or so it seems on mine). That said the overnight only starts at 12:00am not 11:30pm if you’re on IO Go

Not for me it's isn't. 23.30 - 05.30, just checked.

It is 'news'.

The statement made was that Hugo would show what the actual bill is -

However it doesn't. It doesn't come anywhere close.

Of course it would on a dumb fixed time tariff, but that isn't the purpose of this thread which is "Intelligent Octopus".

Now if someone had said that Hugo could show the correct cost if you were silly enough to ignore all the benefits of Intelligent Octopus and to use it as a dumb fixed time tariff.

But others wrongly said it did - hence 'news'.
