You just setup a manual tariff with your actual costs and away you go (or so it seems on mine). That said the overnight only starts at 12:00am not 11:30pm if you’re on IO Go
You can flip the day and night rates on Hugo so that the timeslot is correct for the night rates.

I don't think the smart meter source data holds the cost rates at the time, so no - I don't think there's a way to include the adhoc hours outside the fixed night period.

well nothing works with me. plug the fking car in and it charges, irrespective of how i set up the Ohme charger. None of the suggestions work on the FB page.

"yeah wait a couple of minutes and it will stop charging then only charge on the IO rates". NOPE
"turn off the price cap on the Ohme". NOPE

tried it about 10 times now and it just charges and i get billed at the normal rate even with IO and Ohme assistance.

so the car is now programmed for 2330-0530 only. HOWEVER when the clocks changed the car (C40) changed the time to 2230-0430 WTF ARRGGHH

Had this, this morning:

If you’re an Octopus gas or electricity customer, you can now sync your Octopus tariffs with Hugo! This includes time-of-day tariffs like Agile, Intelligent, Flux and Cosy.

You will need to download the latest version of Hugo, which is v.15.1.0, to do so. This is not a mandatory release, so you must go to the App or Play Store to do this.

(Not sure how it handles the two off peak rates per day yet (00:00 to 05:30 and 23:30 to 23:59), not whether the ad hoc out of hours off peak rates are accommodated, but picked up my tariff OK.)

Yes don't waste your time with the cost information, but 'still'?

It will never work properly for Intelligent as they are taking the data from DCC not Octopus so whatever Hugo do they will never have the faintest idea about which time periods Octopus have allocated as cheap rate due to an approved charge.

What are you charging!? That’s 105kWh? yikes

Last Monday I plugged it in at 8:30am to see if I could get any cheap charging. Yep, 2 hours, right up to 11am (so a 30 min gap built in). But the grid wasn’t that clean at the time, even in my region.

Its an i4 so ~84kwh max. At worst with charging loss it would be ~100kwh to fill, but the car isn't even on empty so no idea why it's given such a long charge window. The car will probably finish around 6-7am. Of course I could slow the cars charge rate down to 20amps to get the longest possible charge time..

Yes I sometimes plug in during the day too and very often it offers an hour or two cheap rate.

It may slow down automatically. I had a long charge window (also BMW i4) the other day as I'd plugged in during the daytime and when I checked on the charger screen it was charging at 1.4kW

All our EV's have started very slow and then ramped up after a short while. They have all sat at around 7kw charge speed from that point on though.

The other day I had charging problems (no charging overnight) due to the Ohme charger going offline.

I plugged in during the day with the normal schedule (add 60% by 07:00) at it offered immediate slots but was charging at 1.4kW. I changed the schedule to add 60% by 16:00 and it immediately changed to 7.2kW.

Dunno, maybe the car automatically charges as slow as possible to meet the departure time then. That could make some sense and would certainly help extent the charge windows IO offers, which is no bad thing!

I think it balances the charge with the demand. I have seen the dashboard graph charge very slow for a few hours, then stop, then the full 7.2kW to meet its 7am target.

For example last night:

No idea what's going on with the -165 miles, I ignore all the numbers on that screen.

Would love to be able to join in these discussions on whether EV charging works a treat, but having switched, getting a smart meter fitted is proving interesting....

- online booking barfs with "an error" every time I choose a slot
- emailing "hello" gets bugger all response
- getting through to customer services on the phone is a challenge
- when I did get through, they confirmed they couldn't book slots online either, and would call the engineers direct and get back to me...
- as much silence now as when I emailed

I'd heard good things about Octopus, but customer service doesn't seem great....

I had exactly the same issue and it was only after I pointed out to the customer services people that I didn't get an option to book that they had someone from the smart meter installation team get back to me and book an install. It was a couple of days after and it was not showing as an Octopus number. Give it a couple of days and ring CS back if you've heard nothing but make sure you aren't autoblocking unknown numbers.

I’m looking at moving to Intelligent Octopus as we have a second EV coming in a few weeks. The car isn’t compatible so as I understand it I need to get one of their compatible chargers, however I think it needs to be a WiFi enabled charger as the signal here is terrible and presumably that’s going to cause issues.

That leaves just the Wallbox Pulsar as my only option, unless I’ve missed something? Just want to make sure I’ve got this right before going ahead.
