Zoe/Leaf Test Drives

Can I be rude and ask how that breaks down?
I'm being quoted 291 based on a 6+23 for 15k miles on a 30kw Tekna with metallic.
That's 8.5k total cost. Oh, it's a business lease so BIK etc on top. Looking pricey.
Last year this time Nissan went a bit crazy and started doing mad PCP deals on the Leaf which were all backloaded. So setting the GFV high inorder to drop the monthly cost and no deposit. They were essentially leasing these cars (as you would have be mad to pay the GFV to keep the car after 2/3 years) but on PCP. You could pretty much walk into any Nissan dealer and get a £200/month deal + £0 deposit, or if you shopped around you could do even better, £150/month etc. I'm being quoted 291 based on a 6+23 for 15k miles on a 30kw Tekna with metallic.

No entirely sure what the situation with deals are the moment.

Seems to be roughly £2k down and £200 a month for 3 years. GFV at 3 of £11k...
http://www.lookers.co.uk/nissan/new-offers/new-nis... - £239 down £239 a month 36 months. 5000 miles 10p a mile excess.
Those are some deals. I don't know whether they're best deals
This one seems to suggest the total amount payable via this method for the Acenta which is the very top box as an example is less than the cash price of the car??

They were on offer about this time last year, I paid £1800 up front and the balance to £3600 over 2 years - lots on here got the same deal. We paid exactly the same amount for our Zoe - and both on 6k pa mileage.I'm being quoted 291 based on a 6+23 for 15k miles on a 30kw Tekna with metallic.

That is an awesome deal, albeit with low miles. 1800 over two years is less than 80 a month! Are those figures excluding VAT?

All in private pcp - lots got the same deal on here. Nissan used the employee codes I think and our car is boggo red didnt even get mats. (it is a Tekna though)Are those figures excluding VAT?

Test drive begins on Tuesday
Don't use B mode it just stops the car even if your going downhill in the Mersey tunnel it will stop the car! Use Eco mode like a thumb brake - great fun. Marvel at the wheel spin in anything other than total dry roads and smile at the 0-30 poke.
Wonder how it's bigger on the inside than the outside, truly is though.
When you look at the range / battery % the battery meter is more accurate but I wouldn't want to rely on either.
Have fun, I don't doubt you'll love it but I'm not sure I would Kay much more than £2k a year for one.
With regard to running costs, people quote how much to charge but you very rarely charge from flat so it's actually much less electricity.

All are an utter waste of time when you can PCP a new Corsa SRI for £130 per month, giving you at least £70 per month to spend on fuel (easily 5k miles per annum). Plus you can drive further afield and it doesn't resemble a modern invalid car.Seems to be roughly £2k down and £200 a month for 3 years. GFV at 3 of £11k...

I own a Zoe. You are correct. Charging is a nightmare when you travel away from your home charger.Olivera said:

To be fair, I'd rather eat my own st than drive a Corsa. Although you make a valid cost point. That said I'd say the Leaf was a class larger than Corsa, more like Astra. Right. I've got the Leaf.
Now the realities of charging and being out in the wild hit home. A few questions!
Do you need a contactless card thingy with Ecotricity? There are no cards with the demo vehicle - the sales rep said she presumed I'd be charging it at home. Well, yes, but I want to see what it's like charging out and about too - I'm planning a trip to Ikea later when I get home, wanted to plug it in so I could actually get back home after shopping.
I'm slightly perturbed they've given me the 24kw version, range was sub 100 miles on 96% battery left. Is there an easy way to tell between 24/30kw versions?
Arrrggghhhhhh!

It was 92 I think with 95% charge.
Just got home, 45 miles later and it's showing 55 miles range with 50% battery, so reasonably accurate I think. I'm guessing 30kw then.
First impressions - cruise control was a faff and I'm still not sure exactly how it works, time to rtfm. Other than that it's very quiet and refined on the motorway and its uncanny around town - utterly smooth and quiet. As a mode of transport to get from A to B I can't fault it at the mo.
I've got a Tekna so full leather and all the toys, which is nice
Bit of a bummer about ecotricity and lack of. I have asked them and they're going to try and find one. for something so fundamental I did presume it would be with the car, alas no. I know CYC have an app (I'm in Bristol) but I don't really want to pay them 4.50 an hour for a fast charge.

If anyone's interested, I'm posting a little test drive blog thing in GG for the benefit of non converts

But dressing like a power ranger and riding an 18 year old motorbike is better? I think you might be 18 years out of date with your acquaintance with a Corsa. They are pretty good cars these days and a lot warmer, dryer and safer than any croch rocket.Undirection said:

No, I've driven one and seen many. They're horrific. Sorry if you have one.hornetrider said:

My 24kw Leaf usually shows 95-100 miles range at 100% even in this weather so that alone doesn't mean its a 30kw car.Just got home, 45 miles later and it's showing 55 miles range with 50% battery, so reasonably accurate I think. I'm guessing 30kw then.

However 50% left after 45 miles suggests it maybe, what speeds were you doing.
Its important to note that the guessometer will base range on previous and current driving pattern so if you drive like a Granny for 50 miles the range will show much greater than someone who drives it PH style.
As for the cruise its pretty simple to use, Simply switch it on and then set it, however the large rocker button has two functions, to set the cruise speed or speed limit so depending on which way you push has different results, took me awhile to realise that..
