New Nissan Leaf
Discussion
235 miles seems to be Europe/UK figure. interestingly depending on global location, there are 3 different ranges !!
anyway, one would think, 40kwh will be circa 200 miles.
I think these are interesting times for EV's and manufacturers- I guess many different models will start appearing now- competition being a good thing.

40kWh will be more like, 150-170 miles real world depending on driving style etc. I'm still onboard pending prices. Good news is 6.6kW charger standard in all trims, that was a bit or a ripoff on the MK1 (£1200 option)
Agreed, getting more than 5miles/kWh is unlikely unless it's very efficient - or never driven over 50mph!austinsmirk said:

It's just different methodologies for testing the same car in different countries. Ignore the 235, EU tests generate unrealistic figures. Stick to the lower 150 miles from the US EPA test which will be much closer to what you will get with the car in the UK.anyway, one would think, 40kwh will be circa 200 miles.

No pricing details yet unless I'm missing something. I think sub £20k after the government hand out would be the trigger for mass adoption but I don't think we are there yet.
I'll be keeping a close watch on this Leaf, might be my next car. I've been viewing my CT200h as a stepping stone but with a 50 mile round trip commute each day the electric range and up front cost has been the sticking point to date. Got the current shape at work which I'm not a massive fan of but this new model looks a bit less extreme, a negative for some but a positive for me. I think we are past needing electric cars to stand out from the crowd in a tailback, blending in might encourage adoption from those not on the bleeding edge.

A little disappointed in the look of the car and the performance.still not good enough to temp me away from tesla.
You cannot compare a Tesla and Leaf on any front. My old 24kWh Leaf did 80 miles range max versus over 200 miles in our Tesla. 0-60 time is sub 5 second versus 10.
However one cost £4.5k to run over 2 years and 14K all in, the other deprecated by around £15k the mintue I drove it out of the room!!
If you're near Milton Keynes there are two of the new 2.Zero models on display at the EV Experience Centre at Centre MK
You can't drive them but you can sit inside- first impressions are of a good quality build and looks much, much better than the 1st gen, but I'm not a big fan of the single dial speedo
Type 2 charging
£26490 after grant
60kWh version rumoured to be in the works.

Went to the presentation at St Albans today, saw a white one in the flesh. Looks good, cockpit nice. Boot a bit bigger, looks like a Micra. There is a launch special edition 1000 cars, Tekna but without leather.
Got back in my £200 a month 30kwh and did wonder what it offered apart from another 35 miles range and ProPilot, and its going to be a lot more than £200 a month. When I asked about upgrading they were completely unprepared, first deliveries of these new cars in January. Further cars delivered from April.

TBH most news cars give you the same challenge. They are different and bit better but rarely is there a big leap in one area. Zoon said:

Rumoured PCP pricing is £3k down, £379/month on a 3yr deal for the 2.ZERO launch model
6000 miles/yr, FV £11k
£26490 on the road
Seems excessive
Too expensive I'm afraid.6000 miles/yr, FV £11k
£26490 on the road
Seems excessive
But suspect that is just the case for the first few months after the UK launch. Lets see what they are Nissan are offering in 12 - 18 months time...
