It would be nice progress, and far from hard to do.
Most people can make do with what comes out of an ordinary socket, and there's plenty of power already in our sidewalks and streets.
The reason I only got an EV last year and not 5 years earlier was because I didn't have off street parking before.
agree with all this and it is becoming a reality in London with a combination of source London on street 7 and 22kw chargers, TFL rapids, some Shell / BP stations and also lots of lamppost chargers. I live in Wandsworth which has been pretty goo at all the above and commute into an area where there are plenty. I love that the company that made THAT Type R, also made the Honda E.
Can't think of anything like that happening to the Germans.
In view of the Golf similarity from the front, would have been amazing if VW had come out with a similar car, performance orientated, and called it the new golf GTI.Can't think of anything like that happening to the Germans.

I assume that's why the Japanese seem to be so keen on hydrogen, despite its obvious shortcomings.
I think that's more to do with having missing the boat on EV. There was a docu on NHK World a while back about it.Japanese car manufacturers have a whole domestic supply chain. There are companies that make the gearboxes, the drivetrain components, the exhaust systems, all the different bits of fossil cars. They went heavily in on hybrid and it was great because they needed to develop even more complex stuff.
Now it's all going EV so a lot of those companies are redundant. Even worse other non-Japanese companies have already got the patents on a lot of the EV technology they need. Even the ones who got in on EVs early like Nissan and Panasonic are struggling. Nissan's drivetrain is mediocre and Panasonic batteries are too expensive.
Welp!
Hopefully the warm embracing arms of PH will provide comfort as I worry about whether I've done the right thing!?
Saw the January batch of videos on this car and instantly loved the looks and the tech....started looking into it further and decided to put the initial deposit down.
Queue the world going into meltdown and months of uncertainty...but we're due to get the car in late August /Early September. Apparently our dealer has sold one other car and that was delivered a couple of days ago...we were a week later on ordering but probably 3-4 weeks later in delivery.
So far nearly every review and commentary has been the same, so I'm still going to go ahead with it. We don't need the boot or range so going with style and technology over practicality.
For 99% of our journeys we do 40-50 mile round trips tops, and then maybe twice a year we do 1,000 miles. Like a lot of people it's not really worth us having a daily driver that can also blast a 500 mile trip easily.
Have had the charger fitted, so just need to wait for an invoice and delivery date to get the financing sorted. Rather kindly the scottish government will give you an interest free loan of up to 35k for 6 years so that's nice...
Please tell me I'm doing the right thing!?

My local dealer told me they had sold 18 and that’s a small dealer, so plenty of people seem to like it. Enjoy it.Hopefully the warm embracing arms of PH will provide comfort as I worry about whether I've done the right thing!?

I'm sure you are - check out this recent review from Electric Vehicle Manfor an in depth look at the car's features:
A genuinely groundbreaking vehicle. Does any other car on sale in the UK
come with a 240v socket as standard, for example?!
