I'm sure all you button lovers are still using Nokia or blackberry phones.
I don't use a phone at all while I'm driving. If for some reason I was going to, yes I'd rather it was an old-fashioned one with a keyboard.SWoll said:
Having finally watched the CarPervert video if you've got a budget of £30-35k and really want a brand new family friendly EV I'm struggling to see why you would consider this over a Kia Nero EV other than the badge?
The ID.3 is RWD and probably drives better, not tried the eNiro but the Kona struggles to put its power down and I didnt like the ride quality (made me feel sick which is prtty impressive). Both are decent cars though if thats not a problem. SWoll said:

For the same reason why though I have no problems recommending friends/family to buy a Kia when it came down to it, I just couldn't do it and spent twice as a much on a Tesla.Though I initially found the EV drivetrian of our old Leaf exciting by the end of the PCP period I couldn't wait to hand it back, infact I handed it back 2 months early after agreeing to still pay the monthly cost despite having no car, thats how much I wanted it gone.
Life is too short for boring cars, the ID may have issues at least it woudlnt bore you to death like the Kia/Hyundia EV offerings.

Obviously I have full voice commands if I need to change something without taking my eyes of the road or hands off the wheel which beats either kind of other control.
Agreed. If the voice commands are good enough that it's genuinely viable not to use the screen all that's probably the best control mechanism there is. I've never experienced a car (or anything else for that matter) where voice interpretation is that good though, even dedicated voice control systems like Alexa and Google whatever-its-called get it wrong almost as often as right. Of course the future is probably full autonomy of the driving anyway, in which case a touch screen becomes an ideal physical interface; but we're a long way off that.
Of course for the moment there's a choice of interface design depending on what manufacturer you go for, which is all that matters really.

What makes you think the ID3 is going to be any more "interesting" than an eNiro? Better packaged, certainly; probably better riding too; and quite possibly more refined;... but it's a mainstream faily car, it's not going to offer a great deal dynamically and RWD or not, it's certainly not going to handle like a sports car or even a hot hatch. kambites said:

RWD The key driving characteristic of the i3 that makes it so much fun is RWD (and lots of power) .. and this car is VWs benchmark. The eNiro like the Kona struggles to put down power with the wheels one way and the steering wheel the other (in my experience).

You'll struggle to notice it's RWD, VW will make sure of it.

wtf is going on with the naming? It's as bad as McLaren.
ID3 is meant to be Intelligent Design 3, after the Beetle and Golf; i.e. the third groundbreaking VW car.
What is groundbreaking about the ID4?
Or are they saying every other car they made wasn't an intelligent design?

I liven up the driving experience of my Leaf by impersonating engine noises my self, periodically coming of the power to simulate manual gears etc. The very progressive throttle enables you to impersonate the lag of a turbo.Though I initially found the EV drivetrian of our old Leaf exciting by the end of the PCP period I couldn't wait to hand it back, infact I handed it back 2 months early after agreeing to still pay the monthly cost despite having no car, thats how much I wanted it gone.

Then of course it all goes quiet at junctions as if it is an old banger which has cut out. So I have to impersonate it struggling to start, you know when the battery is nearly flat and it only just turns over. Drivers behind must wonder what is going on when the lights go green and I don't immediately take off
