I was wary of posting that as it looks somewhat troll-like, I have nothing against EVs and will buy one when my requirements fit and I have the space for a multi-car garage.

But boy oh boy it's a shame the Nissan looks the way it does.

Look at the Zoe, inoffensive normal looking car - does most of what the Leaf does.

Totally agree, and I've got one on the way! It's so well equipped and so cheap I really don't care. It's just for commuting for me, so looks were well down on the desire list. Still, it's cheered my wife up and I'm sure to get a few comments from mates at work, but hey ho, my bank account will be happy!!

I think ugly is very extreme it ain't that bad, even my teenager daughter thinks it looks "ok" or maybe she didn't want to hurt my feelings smile I don't care inside is what matters its just a really nice place to be and such a relaxing comfortable drive with plenty of zip when required. I'm already thinking ahead to my next EV .

Edited for accuracy. Tesla have fixed the range issue for us. We just can't all afford the cars.

I like the way they look. One if those cars that look better in real life imo.

Top of my list for replacing the Zoe when the time comes.

I think the next Nissan will be a gamechanger as they have three battery factories now and the one in the USA is truly huge, they wouldnt do this without a long term plan of succession.

The Leaf sell off on 2 year PCP`s is to plant potential upgraders for 2017 when (I guess) the new gamechanger will be launched. At this time Tesla will have the X and small car available also.

It is the future but (after driving a Tesla and a i3) I still think I will always have a rag top V8 / V12 for leisure use, I just cannot see the "fun" in cruising in an EV.

Absolutely. This is the problem, at the moment the leaf 'serves a purpose' town and school run slag. For the purposes of fun, it has to be something with at least 6 cylinders. But as time goes on, petrol driven cars will just not be sustainable in small numbers. It'll become like vinyl record players today, anything decent will be for the novelty factor and at a premium. Sad sad day.

I took a friend out last week who ribbed me no end and has a scuderia among other toys. 2 minutes in, the penny dropped. :-(

I would wait - your aiming for £3500 / £3800 over 2 years.

My car has been delayed till Wednesday annoyingly - just like I was last to get a Zoe, I am last to get a bloody Leaf now
None of the other Nissan dealers I've spoken to could get close.

I managed to get one of the last Zoe deals at the beginning of Jan for my wife, so the Leaf deals do seem a little expensive by comparison.

Do you expect better Leaf deals in the next few weeks then?

Jesus Christ that's ugly.

I absolutely couldn't.

As you were...
As others have mentioned given how cheap the Leafs deals are and how little this thing costs to run I couldn't care less what the Leaf looks like. I've done over 100 miles in ours now, charged up for free yesterday whilst shopping, total 're-fuel' costs have been £1.50 for 100 miles +, doing the same trip in my old BMW 335i would have cost about £20 in fuel.

For me the Leaf is a temporary stop gap, untill I can afford a Tesla. But I've been amazed at how good/fun car it's to drive in town (M ways is a no go for this car in my view). My last three cars have been a Honda Integra Type R, Nissan 350Z, and BMW 335i tuned to 380bhp, so I enjoy owning quick/noisy ICE cars....However after 48hrs of owning the Leaf I cannot see my self wasting £££ buying an ICE every again. Evey £ I save running the Leaf compared to my old 335i is a £ closet to me getting a Tesla S...My only regret is not making the move sooner, because actually if I had made the change 12 months ago I would now be in a financial position to be able to seriously considering ordering a Tesla (the cheaper £50k version anyways).

We've covered 7k miles in our Leaf now and i can honestly say I've never considered it ugly. It's just a car-shaped box like many others which just happens to be excellent.

Its the wheels that make it look fugly. The car itself is okay. A bigger set of rims and less arch would make the car look as good as the next regular car I'd say. If you can live with the 15% loss of range.

I agree with the hat most folks say, fast they are not (unless its off the line), but they are lovely to drive.

Picked ours up today. Salesman came into dealership to open up especially for us!
Done 40 miles up to Inlaws and back and it is indeed a lovely place to be.
Just set up the wishwings thing and having a read through the phone directory sized manual now.
I cant believe that today I left a Cerbera in the garage and went out in our ecowarriormobile!
I've changed smile

LoL wait until you get the CarWings data back....Apparently I'm re-generating 1/3 of the energy the traction motor is using when doing city driving through the brakes...Much more fun than working out what cat-back box to get next for a slightly different exhaust tone smile

A week into Leaf ownership, I'm still struggling to find out about public charging networks etc.

I've requested a card from Ecotricity, but is there any other 'must have' cards? Happy to do the majority of charging at home, but seems silly to pass on 'free' electricity when I'm out and about.

I don't think there are any other must-haves, there are a few national commercial charging networks and lots of regional ones:

Have you put any effort into this?, for less effort than the PH post you would see a map of charge points, ecotricity takes any card at present and for local CYC covers a lot of them but obvioulsy use zap map to see who runs the points near you.

I've done my research, but wondering if I'm missing something. The 3 local charge points which I could envisage using seem to be run by Ecotricity, CYC and Charge Master. A little more chaotic than I'd envisaged - and seems quite expensive to benefit from the occasional 'free' charging. Guess I'm looking for one ring card to rule them all.
