Picked this up yesterday, my first EV, absolutely thrilled with it, although the previous owner tinted the headlights, I quite like it, but I think is coming off soon! That torque is addictive, first time I floored it, I hurt my back.. Considering its weight, its also a brilliant handling thing, I've not tried dynamic mode yet.
Bolton to Malvern, on the motorway, I was impressed how many miles were left when I got home. Only down side, I'm waiting for my free pod point to be fitted with part of the jaguar approved used offer. So I'm at lidle now getting some charge!

So iD3 went back on Thurs and got the C40 on Friday.
Went out on Sunday and at the end of the motorway journey (averaged 58mph over the journey) showed 158 miles completed and 60 miles left at 29.2 Kwh/100 miles (assuming miles). Our old iD3 would never get near 220 miles of motorway driving and i was worried about the range as it isn't the most efficient shape.
A few gripes so far but not a bad place to be.

Was contemplating a new car this year as I usually do after 4 years.
My shortlist was:
The Taycan is an amazing looking car, probably one of the if not THE best looking EV. I feels planted and utterly capable. However we use the car as a daily as well as going on long vacations with the kids, the Taycan ST feels too cramped in the luggage department. I was hoping the ST mitigated that issue I had with the Taycan 4 years ago but it's still a small boot relative to the car's size. It feels smaller than a 3 series touring, while being longer than a 5 series.
I think it's probably the best EV that you can currently buy but it's not for me for practical reasons..
The S Plaid for the sheer lunacy. The current S 100D has more power than you want to subject your passengers to, but having a 1000hp daily sounds very appealing tbh. In the end it would cost me to upgrade to it while basically having the same car with more power so I opted against it.
In the end I cheapened out and got the model S a new frock. Absolutely stoked on how it turned out.
The colour is a wrap called "hidden forest" and it's stunning. Green in direct light, going to purple and blue.
PS: New wheels as well, calipers and seatbelts in yellow for some contrast
My shortlist was:
- Lotus Eletre
- Taycan ST
- Model S Plaid

Very nice! Was it hard to get? And is the (lack of) speed annoying? I am wondering if this might be suitable for my son when he passes his driving test.
Ordered new but took a while to arrive. It's great as a town or city run about for sure but limited of you need to go further afield...so good for your son if you let him lend your car for bigger journeys I'm sure 😃Very pleased with it. We've had 5 Kia's in the family and this just feels like a top end Kia with some squidgy surfaces, which is a good thing.
The customer service has some way to go - I've had it 8 months and only just sorted a motorway vibration issue since new. Wheels balanced twice didn't resolve then CS advised me "if it needs balancing again it will be at your cost" - "we didn't notice it" - "They all do that sir"... eventually shaming them on social media got a tech out to resolve. Swapped the wheels from their courtesy GV60 (that they sent to prove they all do it!) in the end. Even now, occasionally when cold I feel it, seems to be a side effect of the Michelin Primacy with "noise dampening" foam. Seems if they are strapped down too tight on the boat they are damaged if the pressures are too low in transit.
But that has not taken the shine off it. Still a rare sight in the UK, and always gets positive questions / comments from strangers.

This is cool! Did you buy it converted or convert a car you already had?
Thanks. We had it converted by ECC just before lockdown. When originally rebuilt, we fitted it with a 650cc, 126 engine. But, Mrs B never got on with it.
One day, we wandered into Classic Chrome in Mortlake. They had an ECC demonstrator. Mrs B took it for a spin and decided that she'd prefer to do without clutches, chokes, gear changing etc.
So, she booked her car in to be converted.
