So the range continues to dive, it’s now less than our 38kw ioniq !
Its not even winter yet, and if you believe this guy at 70mph in winter, with standing water the Ioniq 5 is going to be a sub 130 mile range car!!

75mph average I believe.

2100KG, big wheels and tyres, relatively poor overall drag. Can't say I'm particularly surprised in those conditions, you can't cheat physics.

Unfortunately no option for smaller wheels even on the lighter, RWD, 73kW car in Premium spec so always going to be a challenge.

So every other Project 45 getting 4+ mpkwh has had wheels swapped / car lightened ? No - it’s faulty. Of course it’s not as economical as the smaller car but it’s miles less than any other P45 - leading me to deduce it’s faulty.

I was commenting on the posted YT video, not your car.

Have you had a check for a stuck calliper?

I had one on a previous car and shocking MPG was a sign of it, It was easy to diagnose for me as one of the wheels got obviously warm to the touch.

Do they have a demonstrator you can drive back to back to see if any difference in feel between a good and a bad vehicle can aid diagnosis?

Wheels are cool, I’ve gone through 15 years of PH answers lol. It might be a bad motor but on the few times I’ve tried sport mode it’s been pretty nippy.

NP, definitely sounds like something not quite right with your car.

Is the regen off on the car to take into account the poor consumption?

Good luck with getting an answer from Hyundai.

They seem to have given up fixing Konas with dead batteries, instead offering buy back at lower than market rates.

Maybe return the car whilst you still can?

Have you ascertained the amount of charge you can put into the battery?

That shouldn’t affect the miles per kWh even if not fully charging.

I'll bet that's what the 737 Max designers said

Let it cool.

Go for a drive, use regen, dont use the brakes 10min should do.

Check the brake temps when you stop, could be that

I’ll do that tomorrow, the dealer wants to swap cars for a week to see if they can better 2.6 m-kWh like they can’t prove that in a half hour!

Someone pointed out that the AC is on by default.
My drive to Wales last week averaging 4.6 miles / kWh was with AC but with the temp set at the outside ambient.
Also max regen.

DSL, what have you got your temperature set at?

Off - deliberately always off, temp display blank. Natural air vent comes through.

When I bought my first i3 Rex, I used to have it set on Eco with no heating.
I used to do the 100 mile daily commute with jacket gloves and a blanket on my lap. rofl

A bit of sunshine appeared this afternoon, so I did my school run with cabin heating and AC both off. The climate control was set to 22° but I don’t think it does much with both turned off.

It was 16° outside and the car was doing 4 miles per kwh with ease. When I got back from the return trip, the little report card that pops up when you turn off reckoned that I had managed 4.5.

Anyway, yours must be knackered to be getting less than 3. Will your dealer agree to go out on a side-by-side run with their demo so they can be compared in the same conditions?

They have offered to keep it for a week to see what they can get - I’m not in the mood to do that just now. I’ll get a few hundred more miles on it first.

I did the maths last night based on the WLTP figures (and I think we all believe DSLiverpool's car to be a wrongun')
RWD 72.6 kW Premium (19" wheels) - 4.1 miles/kW
RWD 72.6 kW Ultimate (20" wheels) - 3.85 miles/kW
AWD 72.6 kW Ultimate/P45 (20" wheels) - 3.67 miles/kW
From my perspective it's the long range motorway/A-road cruising range that's important and post owning a big comfy French barge (Citroen C6) how quickly I arrive is no longer important to me, but rather than how comfortable and relaxed I am getting there so 65 on the motorway is not an issue to me (in reality around a quarter to a third of my 200 mile each way journey I've been doing in recent times is SPECs zones anyhow).

@DSLiverpool - hope you do get your car sorted soon - if you you end up needing to connect your car to a reader I have a spare KONNWEI KW902 Mini Bluetooth Wireless OBD-II OBD2 I can lend/drop in the post.
