The etiquette around charging is pretty damn annoying. It really should be well sign posted and documented.

It’s quite common to see PHEV’s sitting on a rapid charger all day which is pretty annoying if you’re in a Zoe and can’t charge at home.

Once chargers are no longer free to use, charging and availability will become much easier and people are less likely to ‘freeload’ when they can charge at home.

Despite living in a city with many charge points, I tried to cope with a Zoe for a year but it was a nightmare with EV’d/ICE’d/PHEV’d charge points, charge points which were also disabled spaces, faulty chargers and the Zoe’s flaky charger. If you don’t have the ability to charge at home/work - I really wouldn’t bother

Out of interest, what kind of leasing deals are you finding are now available on the i3s?
1 + 48 £379 - .

10k miles non maintained, decent spec and choice of colour.
That's considerably less than when I signed up a couple of months ago. Evezy still cheaper over all by a decent margin

I've had a quote with speedy delivery but I suppose you never know until you confirm the order.

Was thinking of getting one to replace my smart car but I need that as my daughter is 17 soon.

I'd agree with that sentiment. Fortunate to have a large driveway and straightforward access to a 3 pin to charge the i3 overnight (plan to have a proper 7KW fitted shortly) but if I had to rely solely on public chargers I wouldn't bother. My experience over the last 2 months with most has been a lack of availability, broken connectors, faulty chargers or inconsiderate drivers.

Fortunate to have a 50kw Polar charger at my local Waitrose we use once a week to do a full charge as we shop, but even with that you need to pick quieter times to visit or it's always in use.

This is probably a dumb idea but......
Could folk be persuaded to leave their mobile number on a post-it or similar on their dashboard so that someone waiting for a charge could call them?

Coming up to three months with our i3 94ah. So far so good - problems include it smelling of fags for 6 weeks (it wasn't new when we collected) which the prolific use of air fresheners has finally removed and a stone chip to the windscreen, which with Evezy's permission I had repaired by Glasweld at home.

Sometimes I wish we had the range of the 120aH or the backup of a REX, but it seems pretty usable in the real world so far with the increasing number of rapid chargers.

If anyone wants a referral for £50 off - b4552 is the code.

The beauty of Evezy is that you could always swap into a 120Ah model. How much was the 94Ah out of interest? (I think i recall it was still available when I booked my car, but then it was removed a week or so later).

Things like this exist: https://www.rzoc.club/online-store/Charge-Timer-RZ... , I'm pretty sure the Tesla owners club have a similar one too.

The few times I've used public chargers I just leave a note on the dash with my mobile number and to call/text if you need a charge more than I do.

£349 I think it was? (EDIT: wrong its £359) It was an option when I booked ~ 2 months ago. I actually think we would have been fine with a 94Ah instead of the 120Ah, but I guess the extra range just gives peace of mind. The £50 saving a month would be nice though!

I've had two referrals now (so I won't pimp my code) so the last couple of months I've paid £349, the same as your 94Ah. I think I would definitely miss the extra range of the 120Ah, but I do 40 miles commuting every day.

That's also the reason I'm so emamoured by the Evezy model for EVs. In 3 years time, if I had bought an i3, there would probably be 150 or maybe even 200Ah models available, with partial self driving or other gizmos. I'd be pretty cheesed off if I was locked into a PCP contract with this stuff available elsewhere. I feel quite strongly that EVs are a technology that is rapidly improving, so the traditional model of 3-4 year car switching is undesirable.

That said I wouldn't hold on to a phone for 3-4 years either.

It is £359 a month for the 94ah. Interestingly these don't have the driver assist that the 120ah's seem to, so they are very much base spec. Still reasonably well specced though - better than a Zoe for instance.

I am inclined to agree with this - there are some decent prices on the I3s now and I have been seriously considering taking the plunge but I'm beginning to think I should hold fire.

What driver assist do the 120's have?

All the Evezy 120Ahs (AKAIK) are optioned with 'Driving Assistant Plus' - I'm guessing it helped with, or was a requirement for, the insurance.

Driving Assistant Plus
Comprises:
– Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go
– City Collision Mitigation
– Forward Collision Warning
– Preventive Pedestrian Protection
– Speed Limit Display
– Traffic Jam Assist

I think they called it the driving assistant plus package, so adaptive cruise control, lane departure etc.

The speed limit display and traffic jam assist (only works on motorways but will keep you stop/starting in traffic with no pedal input) are great. Still not convinced about ACC, just leaves too long a gap to the car in front so people keep pulling in pushing you further and further back. Also gets a bit twitchy at times and will suddenly brake which can be a bit unnerving to say the least.

OK - mine has those.

I wouldn't say any of them were show stoppers, all very much ho hum.

My wife would like the automatic parking and the vehicle summons thing but wants to keep the I3 rather than switch to a Lexus.

I haven't had need to go on a motorway yet and I'm actually thinking of a pointless journey on one just so I can play with Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Departure, or whatever else is there. Pretty sad eh.

"Active Cruise Control" is alright but in my limited experience of it the car is pretty dumb in how it works. I mean, it works, it slows down the car when it detects a car in front, but it both accelerates and slows down rather excessively, even in ECO PRO mode, which is strange. I guess the radar (?) isn't good enough to see far enough ahead to sense that it will have to gradually decelerate, but the rather brisk acceleration is rather incongruous.

I try and drive in ECO PRO all of the time, but Comfort is perceptibly snappier in terms of throttle response, and is rather appealing.

I would be surprised if in 3 years time the i3 - or whatever replaces it, and other EVs as well - don't have a suite of semi and fully autonomous features. The tech is moving so fast it would be weird if they didn't.

You can use traffic jam assist anywhere (the stop and go part of it at least) - I use it almost every commute, but it can be jerky depending on how the car in front is driven. It can be like being driven by a bad Uber driver.

The lane departure thing will only work on a motorway at lower speeds - ie. only useful for a crawling tailback.

ACC uses a camera, which is why it isn't the best implementation, and can fall over when faced with low sun etc.

Has anyone had any further info on the Model 3 availability yet? There seems to be a lot of uncertainty around spec and pricing according to a few comments from people looking to lease so what effect is that having on EVezy cars I wonder?

As the LR model no longer exists and the only options are SR+ and Performance it would be interesting to know what to expect as was hoping to get one of the early LR cars.

After being messed about for months over the never materialising iPace I'm hoping it won't happen again with the Model 3..

I think the answer to this is www.needtocharge.com and the apps
