We have Octopus scheme at work and the same car is closer to 1500 gross per month....
The gross cost will be based on factors such as mileage, length of contract, insurance coverage for early termination etc. Easy for them to vary by 10-20%.We have Octopus scheme at work and the same car is closer to 1500 gross per month....

if you are in 115k a year you are in the 60% trap so the taycan gets even cheaper.
Yep. On £125k a year a Taycan GTS would cost around £650 NET. SWoll said:
Yep. Possibly back interested in this again as interviewing for a new permie role this week with a package that would make it a very appealing option.
18-24 months for a Taycan though.
I wonder how quickly Audi can supply an RS etron GT..
18m for the audi i understand. 18-24 months for a Taycan though.

I was tempted but Tusker quoting 70 week lead time for Taycan. I gave up at this point. The Net number substantially higher too but I guess there are other factors.

i wanted the taycan, but the 2 year wait was a joke so got the Y, still hasnt arrived either!
I wanted the Taycan, but with a 2-year wait, decided not to order anything.Taycan was lovely. Took the MY after a three month wait (perhaps they don’t have ‘specifications makes them more manageable to deliver- they churn them out in volume in each colour and find a home for them thereafter- the ultimate white goods)
I’ve noticed my Salary Sacrifice allows me up to two cars. I could have a MY for wife and for me at less than the Taycan
Taycan CT is fab. MY just works.

There's just something about the shape of the Y that I don't like. If they offered the X on my scheme (no idea why they don't?), I'd have probably stuck my order in. As it is, I'll wait until there's something I do want (that I don't have to wait 24 months for) and stick my name down. 24 months is a long time in terms of what else is coming out!
I don’t dispute, it’s no looker. But packaging, space, battery, range, infrastructure, speed, 4wd for winter all provide a fair argument against blandnessPushedDover said:

Yeh model Y looks like a minivan or what someone could have thought futuristic pods would look like that we all drive around in 😂But as a family car it probably is the best you can get!
Without having read all six pages of this thread, has anyone done any man maths on this vs. buying a similar used ICE car?
We are looking for a family car and initially started looking at Qashqai, Sportage etc. Got to be an automatic as my wife is disabled and can't drive a manual. A 3 year old Qashqai or Sportage is around £18k it seems.
My employer has recently started offering an EV leasing scheme through a company called Zenith. Running a few quotes, it looks like I can get something like a Polestar 2, Kia Niro EV or Renault Mégane for c.£450 a month net, however this also includes insurance and maintenance. I'd have to buy a wall box but even on higher utility rates, I'd be saving money on fuel. There are cheaper options like MG4 but seems like the boot space is limited on that one.
Anyone been in the same position and if so, did you go for an EV and which one?

How much is the annual insurance, VED and standard servicing for the 3 year old used car?
What's the depreciation over a further 3 years on said car?
If financing the purchase what are the interest charges?
You'll need to add up all of the above and decide if any difference is worth it for a brand new EV v a low spec used car (I assume low spec as £18k at 3 years old)
I have a spreadsheet, and a comprehensive one at that!
It is very close for £20k used ICE be salary sacrifice Ioniq 5, Niro EV (for example). Sums done on 12k mileage per year, 4 year ownership/lease, with wall box, but using daytime charging rates (worst case). Overnight rates make it an EV win. Remember to factor in the effect upon pension contributions, however.

You're right on closer look I would probably only get a 4 year old Qashqai etc. For £18k. More like £20k for 3 year old.
I am pretty sure a used car is cheaper overall but it's a question of cost Vs benefit. It's worth spending say 20% more to get something cutting edge and fully maintained.
