Isn’t this the kind of characterful, light, simple, back to basics car PH has been asking for for decades?
8hp, 28mph top speed and 40 miles of range. In a nutshell, no.Toaster Pilot said:
So you’re never realistically going to buy one anyway even if it was £1000 because charging it would be a massive pain. Assuming you aren’t drowning in lamppost chargers etc that is.
If ever there was an EV suited to only being public charged this is it. <3 hours to fully charge on a 3 pin plug at your parents/friends house or 45 minutes on a 7kW destination charger dotted around any number of locations like supermarkets etc. Edited by SWoll on Monday 31st October 08:37

It charges at the same rate no matter where it’s plugged in, so you’ll need the 3 hours regardless. If you’ve got loads of destination chargers available where you actually need to be, sure. Edited by SWoll on Monday 31st October 08:37

I've no idea, but if there are local chargers and the Ami was a grand, even three grand, I would consider it, instead of another motorbike.I'm thankful to all the reviewers who have posted videos as they have made sure that I have made the correct decision, for me

I like the idea of this but as Croyde suggested it is quite expensive for what it actually is. A plastic body akin to a Little Tikes Cosey Coupe mounted on a very basic tubular framework. Batteries as others have suggested £600 and obviously a motor and other tech.
It’s irrelevant what I think in the scheme of things but at maybe £4995 it would be more realistically priced. I know we have people on scooters and mopeds within traffic but I really do hope nobody is ever in a serious collision in one as I don’t think it will end well. It would ideally be suited for use only within clean air zones or roads designated as B roads.

Ami on top gear last night.
I know it’s a quadracycle by definition but not sure I would like the idea of any of those vehicles squeezing down what they perceive as reasonable gaps in traffic. It’s extra width compared with the other two options might actually keep the drivers safer as they will mostly just sit in traffic queues with regular vehicles.ajprice said:
They made a good point about it being 2 seats wide, rather than single seat or tandem like the other two (or the Twizy, or a bike). It's not much narrower than a 'normal' small car.
Yep, one of the things I really like about the Twizy. Can fit gaps in traffic a car will leave you waiting.Mikebentley said:

The 'transformer' was really interesting - especially it's speed and potential range. Could be perfect for my 40 mile commute over the fun roads of the south downs with charging points at either end...
There's a big poster advertising them near my work.
Are there more in the country now?
Also talks of a Cargo version for a little more money. What's that one got?
As to Top Gear, I like the Dutch Carver model but did they say €13k or €30k?
One of the earlier Carvers with a petrol engine was £30k new.

Carver is €13k. All electric, they've stopped the petrol engined ones. Are there more in the country now?
