Handing the Zoe back
Discussion
One other thing to consider if you are giving it back is the battery rental contract
Renault may well stop taking payments for the chassis at the end of the 2 year agreement, but if your battery agreement was for 3 years (many of these special deals were), then you might end up paying one more battery rental in the period between the expiry of the chassis agreement and collection of the car

I think the paperwork suggests you can cancel the battery hire after 18 months with 1 months notice. Given that I informed Renault finance well over a month ago that they're having the car back I consider my obligations met and I've cancelled both finance and battery DD. The cars clean and awaiting collection. I'm not paying for Renault finance / manheims problems
Without asking them Renault have stopped taking payments for car and battery, inspection today unearthed a invisible crease on the back bumper, a scrape on a wheel bigger than allowed (others passed) and a scrape on a mirror that I t cut out whilst he was there and he took it off the form. Painless really now I just want it collected so we can cancel the insurance.

I was told that once the vehicle had been inspected by Manheim it was their property and insured by them, even whilst it was on my property awaiting collection.I'd check with them if you still have it (today) and are wanting to cancel the insurance.

I did and you were told incorrectly I think - inspector and cust service team were quite surprised at the question and said its my responsibility until its signed away on collection I'd check with them if you still have it (today) and are wanting to cancel the insurance.

Interesting, I was told this by more than one person i spoke to (RCI Finance and Manheims.) The insurance issue was raised by me in all communication to RCI, Nissan CEO and Manheim and never questioned. The car was eventually inspected on the last day of the finance agreement. Only after the inspection was a collection date arranged. In my naive mind, the agreement had ceased and i had no obligation towards the car anymore. I had bent over backwards to get the car returned and it was through no fault of mine that we were in the predicament we were.
As it happens a collection was made the day after and all ended well.

Mines being inspected 8th Feb. Slightly anxious in case my interpretation of fair wear and tear differs from theirs.
He was very fair and has size guides for scrapes etc however the Zoe has a weak point on the rear bumper that slightly deforms and ours had it (I couldnt see anything but could feel a small ridge) and he said the majority have this defect from any sort of even slight contact.DSLiverpool said:

Interesting! Mine has a slight deformation in the rear bumper too. Did your inspector give any indication of what the charge might be for that? Heathwood said:

Fair inspection all things considered I thought
Sent off my DVLA slip 1st class
Waiting for confirmation of when it is to be collected
2,150 excess miles to pay for as well
ETA the collection guy has just called and is coming for it this evening
It is being taken to Colchester

Mines now on a low loader on it's way to god knows where.
All in all it's been a very cheap and pleasant 2 years. The hand back process was also very easy and fair.
Would I have another ZOE though? No.
Compared to the Kia and the Leaf they are a nasty, plasticky, cheap little box with a pretty face.
