14 year olds now. It used to be 16.
And I agree, brilliant little thing.
For a short city commute these would be great.
And drunk drivers - as you do not need a valid licence for these. Apparently in the farming areas this class of vehicle holds it's value well as alcoholism is wide spread and drunk drivers are common. And I agree, brilliant little thing.

Or is it that the pissheads just don't have a license at all?

Thought being drunk in charge of any vehicle (including bicycle) could lead to your actual license being revoked?

This class of car does not require a license so in the rural areas if someone loses their license through drunk driving (which the French police are meant to be quite hot on) they just get one of these vehicles to use until they get their license back. Things are so bad they the voiture sans permis (VSP) tend to circulate amongst the same group of people. Found an article I remembered on the BBC web site, and I do remember seeing these around in various guises over the years as my family used to regularly holiday in France using the back roads.Or is it that the pissheads just don't have a license at all?

True. Although 'banned' rather than 'drunk' (sometimes both, obviously).I'd rather see banned drivers using these (insured) than driving real cars illegally.

Indeed, and here is one careening through Paris in a YouTube user review (with English subtitles):

That is a great review. He also did a follow-up vs. a Twizy with more hoonage:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqH6MmA4PJI

I have registered interest and would certainly buy one if they are released here.

In the exceptionally rare cases that that happens, you can still ride the bicycle.Or is it that the pissheads just don't have a license at all?
Personally I prefer the James May Ami, complete with blonde.
Surely we don't have VSPs in the UK?
Great concept, I'd imagine the... "challenging" styling is to maximise internal space but to me the front looks like one of those pedigree cats with a flat face.
ETA turns out we do... Sort of. You can drive a quadricycle at 16 with a CBT. So not a V and you still need a P.

I guess as a concept for an electric town car is OK, shame they made it look like a PoS clown car.
Urban mobility at its best? not looking like that, but maybe something more sensibly styled would good for a by-the-minute rental for the densely populated cities. As long as you could hose it out of course, and find a way to penalise scrotes that joy ride and dump them.
Anywhere outside of London? mobile deathtraps at worst, obstacles at best.

Over 600 people have registered an interest since Friday. The more who register the more likely we are to see this wonderful little thing in the UK.

Youre not comparing apples to apples though. You need to compare it to the Twizy, the Gwiz and the Secma Qpod, NOT a an eUP, which costs >3x the price.
Personally I think it looks disgusting, which means it’s absolutely brilliant. Citroen have always gone against the grain, this new Ami is really Citroen at its best; thinking outside the box and not having the slightest interest in conforming to other brands.
I suspect it won’t be popular in the UK, the British are far too obsessed with the dross being shat out of Germany, however I suspect these will be popular in France, other European cities and around the Med.
