WLTP surely? I know China still use NEDC but it's not legal to quote it here.

That’s just what he said, may well have gotten them mixed up.

I’m guessing it is WLTP because I just looked up the quoted NEDC range and it’s 261. So they managed like 220? Which is probably about right.

Is it me, or do the wheels look tiny on it?

The word I'd use is "sensible". It's not meant to be a sports car.

They look like 16s maybe? Seems a very practical size. Won't satisfy those that like their cars to look like a kid's toy though.......

Perfect for a taxi which is what a large number of these cars will be.

Yes quite possibly an Uber driving around london

What scares me is that Toyota don’t offer an attractive alternative which is a shame because Toyota are one of the true automotive greats that innovated a lot back in the day

They are 16s, on 205/60 rubber. Very sensible. They just look tiny on a car that size. I guess I'm used to seeing at least 18s on almost everything these days.

Got 60 profiles on my Mazda 3. Nothing better for bombing a poorly maintained B road.

They appear to be discounting them already, £23k for a brand new “Exclusive” (£4k off list on AT) - ZS also under £20k now.

Hardly surprising. Seems to be a lot of pre-reg ZS around and the 5 will be no different.

I bought a ZS EV Exclusive last week for £22,500 brand new. Pre reg deals are only a couple of hundred cheaper.

It seems they've learned a valuable lesson from the Europeans - it's better to set an artificially high list price and constantly discount than set a sensible list price and try to sell for it.

That was my biggest worry when we were looking at the ZS EV. Up to that point, there had been issues with some petrol ZSs, mostly under the bonnet slam panel, but none with the EVs which were apparently not built in the same factory as the offending petrol cars. However, MG's response to the problem on those petrol cars certainly didn't inspire confidence.

That bloke is a dealer's worst nightmare. Going underneath with a torch and complaining about the lack of wax injection? Which cars come with wax injection from the factory?

I’m going to try and do a similar report on my 2020 MG ZS shortly, see what’s going on. If it’s a bit lacking I’ll get some Dynax under there.

Price quoted was £29,990 for the base 204 PS 58kWh “Life”.
I wonder if that was a guaranteed price or an estimate which is subject to revision? I wonder if the dealer actually know what VAG's RRP will be or are just guessing to try to get some pre-orders in?
It sounds like Cambridge are clued up on the ID.3 (unlike other VW dealers people had been to) and the chap I quoted is confident in the price, but who knows what's in the smallprint of their order!
On AT with another dealer so you’d hope they’re not making it up. (apart from it being in stock!)

It seems wise to add extra protection but it's a bit of a piss-take if you should have to.

It's all well and good Chinese manufacturing offering a product at a lower price point but as long as that's a result of economies of scale and lower labour costs but not good if the fundamental quality and integrity of the vehicle is compromised. Less fancy feeling cabin materials - fine. Less advanced media and AV gadgetry - fine. These things are luxuries but not something that will cause the car to fail like poor weatherproofing will.

Agreed but lets be honest, the Europeans and Japanese hardly have a great record for this, even quite recently.
