It’s white goods, efficient and a great tool. It’ll be fine.

I’m missing something obvious I think, everyone seems to love the look of this thing but to me it’s a boxy mess of designs that’ll age real quick. Do they drive well or is it just that there’s a lack of decent EVs to chose from?

What the hell is going on with the wheel arch slashes and side mouldings? hurl

Sorry to be blunt but it’s fugly in my opinion.
It’s a bit marmite I grant you, but it is different from all the me too EV’s imho.

If you want a ionic5 standard none P45 just pop along to your dealer.
If you want a P45 email vip@hyundai.co.Uk who will wait list you for 10 seconds before allocating you one.
Laura in the vip team will ask for £1k directly then your car will be sent to your nominated dealer in 2 weeks they are saying.
I have emailed them but didn't get a reply.
My lease doesn't go back till March anyway and I've been quoted £1k if I want to return it now.

Popped into the local dealer to see when my test drive would be and their demo has broken down and they cannot fix it, so they are waiting for a replacement car…

Test drive one yesterday, that’s exactly as I’d describe it.

So utterly unexceptional compared to the styling I couldn’t help be disappointed.

Back to back testing with our i3S and a Taycan RWD it was by a million miles the worst to drive.

How it drives wouldn’t occur to me as important, I thought my Bentley was crashier than my wife’s qashqai - the normal ioniq we have now is lovely to be in, the 5 will be better.

Harley fair to compare it to one car that is set up as a drivers car and the other that is almost three times the price!

They showed me it on the ramp in the garage with all the rear seats removed….it was very interesting to see but I’m still not sure it was the best sales tactic ‘here’s a broken zero mileage version of the car you want to buy’.

I've found one on Leasing.com for just over £500 a month for 48 months.

I'm guessing the Project 45 has everything on the Ultimate plus more ?

The problem is, I will have to pay £1000 to give my current car back early (with less than half the mileage it was meant to have on it too!)

How long do you think I could delay getting the delivery of this car, I don't really want it till early next year.

If you think you’ve found a P45 on leasing.com when you call they’ll say it’s a mistake.

Only way to lease a P45 is to secure one via vip and then persuade a dealer to sort the lease out. Only via Hyundai dealers.

Great, I sent VIP an email during the week but they didn't reply.

Has anyone done this?
What price did they get ?

Yep, I did it.

If you look on eighteenth speak EV or the Ioniq fourm there is a post buried in there with a phone number……

Got a fabulous deal. P45 is cheaper to lease than the Ultimate with tech pack.

I first emailed them about three weeks ago to go on the waiting list. Got an email on Ghursday to say I could have a car.

It’s a £50k Ford mondeo. At best.

If that’s what you want to spend you’re coin on fair play.

Not sure why you’re so against EVs ? Petrol won’t last forever. This is about £500 a month for a hot hatch type thing that costs a few pence a mile to run.
I’ll also have a petrol convertible as well but the P45 will be a daily driver / kids minibus etc.

It's definitely not a hot hatch.

I’m most definitely not against EVs, I own one and absolutely adore it!

As Smiljan says however, this one is most definitely not a hot hatch and if you’re hoping it is you’ll be disappointed.

I’ve watched as many reviews on it as possible and following them it was the one we were most looking forward to. So far, each EV we’ve driven has brought something new and exciting to the table-this one however doesn’t.

It’s just a big, heavy cumbersome thing. I would say it’s only unique point is the huge rear seating area, that was the only wow moment as and sadly reminiscent of the first time I sat in a Skoda Superb taxi.

As for comparing it against the others we have, I’m sorry, it’s a £50k or so car. It deserves to be special at that price point. It isn’t. Tech and imho amazing looks aside, it’s a boring steer and the interior belongs in something worth £20k.
