Can anyone recommend an installer that covers Hitchen for a quote? Colleague from work is looking at replacing his totalled A4 with an EV.

Yep, but have you seen how much they want for it?

https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKUHYBSHELF....

Suncoast are the best place for OEM parts at a reasonable price (there does seem to be a bit of price fixing in the US). My L2 charger I just got was half of what you would pay for the case, never mind the charger!
eek

It just struck me as odd how flimsy it felt. I'm well aware of the "Porsche tax", but I always thought they'd at least put their name on quality stuff. This felt like a toy compared to the Tesla wall charger right next to it. It's also massive for no apparent reason.

Had a quote of £1400 for Zappi install with a myenergi hub. 7m cable and potentially a 32a circuit breaker. They will refund me up to £350. Seems a bit pricey?

My Zappi install was £880 with no OLEV grant, but they were doing other electrical work on the house at the same time that required a 2nd consumer unit in the garage.

Wholesale price is £605 so your quote does seem expensive. https://midsummerwholesale.co.uk/buy/zappi/zappi-v...

I have a 60 amp fuse, doesn't look to feed through to anyone else, would I likely also need the tails updating if I went for a 100 amp fuse? (mid 70's build house)

Hi - yes you would need to upgrade all tails to 25mm if you have a 100amp fuse put in, you would also need the DNO confirm the cable is man enough coming into the house for 100amp on that age property (this is done free of charger and the charging point company will do an application on your behalf requesting this usually)

Hi Jim,

I used a company called Charging Point UK Ltd - guys were extremely helpful & tidy. They handled all the paperwork and have a great online system that walks you through it.

www.chargingpointuk.com

I had a SyncEV charge point installed the smallest on the market which I think I paid around £650/680 (will depend on your install) I feel Zappi's are over kill and would typically cost between £800-900 based on pricing I received including the grant.

Hope the above helps.

Yes I would say it is a little pricey, nothing too crazy seen worst prices on this forum!

A price around £850-900 after grant appears to be where is should be at for a Zappi.

Where abouts are you based?

OZEV will pay your installer in 2-3 months, hopefully and so I suspect they have simply said to themselves 'It is this much or it's not worth us doing'. Zappi are good but quite big. You may find another charger does everything you need but costs less.

I want a tethered anyway so the lead ruins the look of smaller chargers anyway. Might just get a pod point for £529 and be done with it

Thanks for that, I hope the incoming cable is up to it, or that'll knacker any plans for a driveway charging point, I don't fancy using a 13 amp plug.

BP Chargemaster (Tethered) IMO was the way to go. Yes it was free with the car but of the variants having the 4.5m tethered cable make complete sense. Charging very intuitive with the app and all good with regards to future use.

No problem - there are load management options which will monitor your house consumption and the charger will decrease it's power while your property is being "power hungry". Then once less power is being used by the property power will return to the charger. (The house only use's max power in short burst, so at night charger you will be fine).

Have a look into load management, most of the chargers have this option these days.

Where abouts are you based, company I used cover likes of London, essex, Kent, Hertfordshire if their contact would be any good to you. They look after the whole process.

Heard poor customer services and waits of 4-5 months and still not getting the chargers.

I hear due to the about of enquiries they receive they can hand pick the simplest ones out (Not tried them myself, just what I've read on a number of forums before I made my mind up)

Not sure where you are getting that pricing from…

I’ve paid £599 for 7Kw tethered type charge point with std installation.

Untethered is £449 3.6Kw and £549 7Kw

Tethered is £499 3.6Kw and £599 7Kw

Request for help please - am I having my pants pulled down?

I've made the big step of ditching the volvo diesel and leased a Tesla model 3. Have bought the wall connector - i.e. just need it installed. I want it in the garage (already has electric spur from the house).

2 quotes have come in higher than I expected.....
20m of "EV materials" to get to garage from the main house, a PME unit and 4/4.5 hours of installation and 1 hour of certification

Higher quote almost £1000 (not including the connector - got that already)
Cambridgeshire area

Does that sound reasonable? Grateful for any help/recommendations of installers who might come to PE28

Thanks
