Does anyone know much about the BMW apps in the i3? The website doesn't say much. Does it have things like internet radio?

Found this on the HK system for the i3:

"Now to the sound system. Oh, the marvelous sound system. Harman Kardon have truly outdone themselves this time, fine tuning the audio to provide a high-fidelity audio experience. The i3 may not have vented seats or dual climate control – but it does have one of the finest sound systems I’ve ever sampled in a car. I’m not sure if it’s the layered interior surfaces or carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) chassis that mutate the i3 into an amphitheatre, but the sound reproduction was truly outstanding, regardless of the genre of music. Classical to modern rock to hip-hop and R&B, minor tuning of the equalizer left my driving partner and I deeply impressed by the audio quality. Rock on, i3."

I'm not sure how a heat pump will benefit pre-heating.
The i division of BMW seems insistent that pre-heat is ONLY an option on cars with the heat pump. As is the salesman at the dealership.

I have just told the i3 sat on my drive to activate auxiliary heating for a 9.45 departure time (it's plugged in). I've set the temp to max.

Let's see what happens...

ears Well Ross, did it work??
Well, as it was only on loan, it wasn't linked to my iphone so couldn't try it that way.

What I did do was set the 'auxiliary heating' to on and set the departure time 15 mins ahead.

Locked the car and left it for 10 mins. When I went back it was all warmed up inside...

Sorry mids, couldn't say - my M3's got old-style idrive so only has the vague traffic info it gets from Classic FM.
+1

It looked very google-esque in the i3. I think the Pro Nav i3s have 'Live' traffic info presumably via the in-built 3G. The one on the std i3 isn't 'live'.

What happens to an EV without REX and with poor traffic you run out of battery life?

Is it a case of AA/RAC have to put your car onto a flatbed or is it ok to two home? Just thinking aloud could this mean that breakdown cover is higher for these vehicles - ditto any ICE/Diesel with auto transmission.
I looked in the manual that's built into the Nav screen and there was a section on towing.

When you buy a BMW i3, the comprehensive BMW i Mobile Care package is included automatically. This means that professional help is available over the phone if anything happens to the vehicle or charging infrastructure. It also offers help at your location quickly if you need it. In the event of an emergency, assistance is available 24 hours a day wherever you are in the UK. And help is at hand to either take your vehicle to the nearest BMW i Agent or to find the most practical way to recharge it. In the unfortunate event of your vehicle being off the road, we will provide a two-day car hire period so that you can remain mobile, keeping inconvenience to a minimum.*

Will most BMW dealers have one of these in the showroom to have a look at? How practical might one be for baby carrying duties?
Only 'i' dealers. Check the BMW website.

My local dealer (Swindon) said they didn't want to go through the expense of outfitting for electric cars so I need to goto Oxford or Bristol. Which is what - fitting a few wall chargers? As the servicing doesn't entail much and I hope they'd be able to do that anyway I don't think it sends a very good message to potential customers.
I think that BMW have limited the number of 'i' dealers. My local dealer also had to build a new i showroom.

I reckon they'll go with that. All they are doing is claiming the cost anyway.

Good luck!
